Full Job Description

What You'll Do

The Manager, Data Strategy & Intelligence will lead Jumpstart’s enterprise data strategy and help turn data into practical insights that strengthen decision-making, improve operations, and increase community impact. This is a strategic, cross-functional role for a data leader who can connect business needs, technology solutions, analytics, and social impact.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will act as a key business partner and advisor on data strategy, governance, analytics, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and data product development. The Manager will work closely with internal partners across IT, Privacy, Cyber Security, Finance, Operations, and across all charity functional areas to ensure Jumpstart’s data ecosystem is trusted, secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities.

The successful candidate does not need to come from one specific sector. We welcome candidates with strong transferable experience from nonprofit, public sector, consulting, technology, corporate, philanthropic, social impact, or related environments who are excited to use data to support children, youth, and communities across Canada.

This role will influence how Jumpstart identifies community needs, allocates investments, measures outcomes, improves operational efficiency, and builds stronger data-informed practices. It is an opportunity to shape an enterprise data function while contributing to meaningful work that helps remove barriers to sport and play.

Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the development and execution of Jumpstart's enterprise data strategy and roadmap.

  • Establish data governance standards, policies, and practices that ensure data quality, security, privacy, and accessibility.

  • Advise leadership on emerging technologies, analytics, AI, and opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness through data.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve decision-making, and increase operational efficiency.

Data Platforms, Systems & Innovation

  • Lead the assessment, implementation, optimization, and evaluation of enterprise data platforms, reporting tools, and digital products.

  • Serve as Jumpstart's primary business lead for data-related initiatives involving internal technology teams and external vendors.

  • Partner with IT, Privacy, Cyber Security, and operational teams to ensure successful deployment and adoption of technology solutions.

  • Evaluate and recommend new systems, software, and technologies that improve organizational performance.

Analytics, Intelligence & Decision Support

  • Transform organizational data into actionable insights that inform planning, investment, and performance management.

  • Develop tools and frameworks that support evidence-informed decision-making across the organization.

  • Translate complex data into clear recommendations for leadership, staff, funders, and external partners.

  • Support the measurement, communication, and continuous improvement of organizational impact.

Partnerships, Innovation & Sector Leadership

  • Lead the development, deployment, and evaluation of data-related initiatives, products and future innovation opportunities.

  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and technology partners.

  • Represent Jumpstart in conversations related to data strategy, analytics, and evidence-informed decision-making.

  • Support sector-wide initiatives that strengthen data infrastructure, intelligence, and collaboration across sport and recreation.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Build organizational data literacy and strengthen staff capacity to use data effectively.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members responsible for analytics, evaluation, and learning functions.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and evidence-informed decision-making.

  • Ensure organizational learning and impact measurement activities align with enterprise data strategy.

What You Bring

At Jumpstart, our commitment to helping children and youth access sport and play drives everything we do. We are looking for a collaborative and purpose-driven data leader who can bring structure, insight, and practical solutions to complex business questions. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across strategy, analytics, technology, governance, and stakeholder engagement, and will be able to translate technical concepts into clear recommendations for a range of audiences.

  • A strong interest in using data, evidence, and technology to create positive social impact for children, youth, and communities.

  • Experience in nonprofit, philanthropic, public sector, social impact, consulting, technology, corporate, or other complex stakeholder environments. Experience in sport, recreation, physical activity, or child and youth wellbeing is considered a strong asset.

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex data, analytics, technical concepts, and emerging technologies into clear, practical insights for a wide variety of audiences, including executives, boards, funders, community partners, researchers, and frontline staff.

  • Proven ability to build organizational understanding, confidence, and capacity to use data in support of decision-making, performance improvement, and impact measurement.

  • Undergraduate degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Progressive experience leading or supporting enterprise data strategy, analytics, data governance, business intelligence, data products, or technology-enabled transformation initiatives.

  • Experience working with data platforms, reporting tools, data integrations, cloud-based technologies, digital products, or similar systems.

  • Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, cybersecurity considerations, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies, with the judgment to partner with subject matter experts when deeper technical expertise is required.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects involving technology, operations, and business stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to assess and implement technology solutions that improve organizational effectiveness and support strategic objectives.

  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, research partners, and strategic relationships.

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading others through direct people leadership, project leadership, or cross-functional influence.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel for work purposes as required.

  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
