What is a Manager 6 Data Governance?

The Manager 6 Data Governance leads the design, implementation, and operationalization of the enterprise data and AI governance program. This role establishes governance frameworks that define how data is created, managed, protected, and trusted across the organization. Responsibilities include data quality, lifecycle management, cataloging, inventory management, data dictionary development, owner and steward enablement, and governance controls that ensure data integrity across systems and integrations. The Manager partners closely with Business, Application Services, Analytics, and Cyber teams to align, standardize, and govern enterprise data assets.

What does a Manager 6 Data Governance do?

  • Designs and builds the enterprise data governance framework, including operating models, policies, standards, and processes

  • Establishes and maintains the enterprise data catalog, data dictionary, and data inventory as authoritative sources for data asset definitions

  • Defines governance processes for the creation, classification, management, protection, and lifecycle of data assets

  • Identifies, onboards, and enables data owners and stewards through training, accountability frameworks, and governance best practices

  • Assesses application integrations for governance gaps and enforces data integrity, consistency, and standardization across systems

  • Develops data quality controls, metrics, and dashboards to measure, monitor, and improve data health across business domains

  • Partners with Business, Application Services, Analytics, and Cyber teams to prioritize governance initiatives based on risk and business value

  • Supports Analytics with governed, trusted, and fit-for-purpose data for reporting, insights, and decision-making

  • Defines and enforces enterprise-wide data standards, naming conventions, and governance policies

  • Establish AI governance 6 sanctioned model/ tool registry, AI use-case intake and acceptable-use policy with Cyber and Enterprise Architecture

  • Builds and manages the data and AI governance roadmap, including milestones, quick wins, and long-term maturity objectives

  • Provides support for storm restoration efforts

What does it take to be a Manager 6 Data Governance?

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field, and 5+ years of experience designing and implementing data governance programs, frameworks, and operating models.

  • Experience with data governance and data catalog platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation

  • Experience with data quality principles, metrics, controls, and governance tooling

  • Experience establishing and supporting data owner and data steward accountability models

  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data governance best practices

  • Ability to translate governance concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to build cross-functional alignment and influence stakeholders across multiple business areas

  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a greenfield environment

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Data governance or data management certification (CDMP, DAMA-DMBOK)

  • Familiarity with AI governance and responsible-AI frameworks

  • Experience working in the utility industry or other highly regulated environments

Pay range: $126,500 - $196,100
