Summary

The Manager of Business Intelligence & Reporting will lead a small team dedicated to advancing the Internal Audit's (IA) Business Intelligence (BI), reporting and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. This role is responsible for defining and executing strategies that support NYPA's IA long-term objectives, collaborating with business partners to understand reporting needs, and developing a roadmap for impactful BI initiatives. The Manager will ensure team members are assigned appropriate work, provide development and oversight, and foster a culture of growth and accountability.

This position serves as the technical expert for AI, BI & Reporting, overseeing the evaluation and implementation of advanced automation, reporting and data visualization tools. The Manager will drive best practices, support self-service analytics, and promote the effective use of NYPA's approved technology. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects and support both business and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage audit engagements within a defined scope, implementing policy and strategy for short-term results; ensure audits are executed to NYPA and IIA standards.
  • Plan and coordinate audit resources, timelines, and budgets; address difficult issues using established policies and procedures and escalate as needed.
  • Guide teams through testing procedures (sampling, analytical procedures, CAATs) and ensure high-quality working papers and process documentation.
  • Draft clear audit reports and communicate observations, risks, and recommendations to business stakeholders; track remediation progress.
  • Apply standardized analytics and reusable solutions across audit phases; build dashboards/visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Implement continuous monitoring for defined processes by configuring KRIs and automated tests; partner with audit teams to identify suitable processes.
  • Coordinate with IT/data teams on data access and quality; support adherence to data usage, lineage, and reproducibility standards.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of internal auditing methods and techniques; familiarity with COSO, GAAP, GAGAS, FERC, FASB, and IIA standards.
  • Strong understanding of Internal Audit functions and operations and working knowledge of the electric utility industry.
  • Hands-on skills with analytics/CAATs and ability to embed analytics within business/audit processes.
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools (e.g. Python/R/SQL/Power BI or similar tools); familiarity with workflow automation (e.g., Alteryx) and audit platforms.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, conflict resolution, and negotiation; ability to manage professional-level team members or supervisors.
  • High standards of integrity, values, and professionalism; strong communication skills to translate technical outputs into clear insights.
  • Ability to operationalize analytics and AI roadmaps, embed analytics in audit processes, and scale continuous monitoring and auditing practices within assigned audit engagements.


Education, Experience and Certifications

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
