Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Trainer (Mx Trainer) to support our Manufacturing organization in Fremont, CA. This role reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Training and is a fully on-site position. This is primarily a day shift role, with flexibility required to support training across alternate shifts, including nights, as needed.

The Mx Trainer plays a critical dual role:
  • Technical expert in equipment maintenance (Front and Back Shop)
  • Training leader responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining maintenance training programs

This position ensures that Maintenance Technicians are fully trained, compliant, and capable of supporting high-volume, automated manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Development
  • Conduct hands-on and classroom training for Maintenance Technicians on manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Develop and maintain structured training programs for Front Shop and Back Shop maintenance functions
  • Create and manage training schedules, including onboarding, cross-training, and upskilling plans
  • Maintain accurate training records and certification matrices for all Maintenance Technicians
  • Perform monthly training audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness
  • Partner with HR and Safety teams to coordinate required compliance training (LOTO, safety, etc.)
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop standardized work instructions and training materials
  • Shadow and certify trainers/technicians to maintain training readiness and backup support

Technical Training & Equipment Expertise
  • Train technicians on troubleshooting and repair of automated manufacturing equipment in stack manufacturing
  • Develop training modules on:
    • PLC diagnostics and schematic interpretation
    • Digital and analog I/O troubleshooting
    • Preventive maintenance execution and tracking
    • Equipment installation and modification procedures
  • Provide instruction on the use of precision instruments, hand tools, and power tools
  • Support training for PC-based testing equipment and diagnostic systems
  • Ensure technicians are trained on proper LOTO procedures and safety compliance

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with Production and Maintenance teams to assess skill gaps and build targeted training plans
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and ensure technicians are trained to execute within standards
  • Assist in equipment upgrades, modifications, and implementation of new tools/processes
  • Collaborate with engineering and equipment teams to translate technical changes into training content
  • Identify opportunities to improve training processes, tools, and equipment performance
  • Support cross-functional manufacturing activities as needed

On-the-Floor Engagement
  • Deliver real-time coaching and support on the manufacturing floor
  • Lead lean manufacturing training sessions for Maintenance teams
  • Reinforce standardized work and best practices during daily operations
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment is maintained


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
    (maintenance, equipment engineering, or manufacturing operations)
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting automated equipment
  • Strong understanding of:
    • PLC systems and electrical schematics
    • Digital and analog I/O systems
    • Preventive maintenance systems and practices
  • Proven experience with automated manufacturing tools and equipment
  • Ability to read and use precision measurement instruments
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience delivering technical training or mentoring others
