Responsibilities

The Maintenance Superintendent is a key member of the Plant Management Team and as such, is responsible for providing overall leadership for the Maintenance Department, ensuring excellent safety performance combined with project planning and maintenance, as well as preventative maintenance programs.

A day in the life of the Maintenance Superintendent includes:
  • Ensure the highest level of workplace safety
  • Provide direction, training and support for all maintenance personnel and foster a highly effective working relationship with all employees
  • Assist in developing and achieving targets in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee engagement
  • Ensure the Canfor Operating System (COS) is being followed with the emphasis on abnormality response
  • Effectively liaise with Production departments to ensure the highest level of equipment availability
  • Assist with the development and management of the annual budget and cost control program
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental permits, applicable government regulations and corporate policies
  • Provide development for supervisory personnel
  • Work with senior management team to plan equipment and/or technological changes
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective preventative maintenance programs

  • An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Extensive experience with CMMS and the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs
  • Extensive experience in an industrial maintenance environment including supervisory experience
  • Red Seal trade qualification or equivalent combination of experience and education


The salary range for this position is: $102,550.00-$146,500.00
