Job Summary
The Mainframe Automation Specialist will support mainframe operations, automation administration, and z/OS automation initiatives. The role requires experience with CA OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation for z/OS, NetView for z/OS, automation rule and event coding, REXX, CLIST, TSO, ISPF, and JCL. The specialist will support automation migration projects and contribute to the implementation, configuration, operation, and expansion of mainframe automation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational, service, consulting, or support activities within a mainframe operations environment.
• Administer and support mainframe automation solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and migrate automation rules and event coding.
• Support z/OS automation migration projects.
• Use TSO and ISPF for mainframe operations and automation activities.
• Develop and maintain JCL.
• Write REXX scripts and work with the System Automation Policy Database (PDB).
• Implement and support NetView for z/OS, IBM System Automation for z/OS, and CA OPS/MVS.
• Support system operation, configuration, and automation activities across the mainframe environment.
• Contribute to fully automated system configurations on IBM Z.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience working in a mainframe operations environment in an operational, service, consulting, or support role.
• Experience with mainframe automation administration.
• Experience with CA OPS/MVS and IBM System Automation for z/OS.
• Experience with automation rule and event coding and migration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with TSO and ISPF.
• Strong JCL skills.
• Ability to write REXX and working knowledge of the System Automation Policy Database (PDB).
• Experience with z/OS automation migration projects.
• Experience implementing and using NetView for z/OS, IBM System Automation for z/OS, and CA OPS/MVS.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of other IBM Z software, including system operation, configuration, and automation.
• Knowledge of z/OS system startup and shutdown processes.
• Knowledge of SMP/E.
• Knowledge of products that compete with the IBM automation products.
• Knowledge of fully automated system configurations on IBM Z.
