Machine Shop Supervisor- 2nd ShiftWe are looking for an aggressively forward-thinking and passionate Machine Shop Supervisor for 2nd Shift to join a team dedicated and committed to implementing world-class manufacturing methods and processes, including collaborative robotics, unattended machining, and custom design solutions. The Machine Shop Supervisor will oversee the machining functions and inspection of electro-mechanical
actuators and components for both of our business units. They will ensure the machining processes deliver high quality products and create value for our customers while also building a cross-trained workforce that continues to grow, learn, and take ownership.
In this role, you will typically:- Ensures work is completed to production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, identifying resource needs, allocating resources, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Participates in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures, works to track and improve efficiency within machining processes, and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures while ensuring machine shop spending is within previously set budget (ensuring employees are clocking in/out on time, wearing appropriate PPE, etc.).
- Work closely with manufacturing engineering to develop and implement new machining processes to improve existing ones.
- Supports and fosters the growth and development of all direct reports by setting goals in annual performance reviews and determining training schedules.
- Resolves personnel and production problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
- Maintain documentation practices including inspection records, certificates of conformance and non-
- conformance reports.
- Sets daily/weekly/monthly objectives to meet higher level company objectives and communicates them to
- employees.
- Notifies the Operations Manager of any issues requiring cross-functional input from Engineering, Quality, and/or Purchasing to resolve issues, support new product introduction, and manage production changes.
- Develops a work environment that fosters open and honest communications to continuously instill confidence and credibility by actively engaging the workforce.
- Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Communicates and enforces all company workplace policies including attendance, quality, and safety objectives.
- Supervise and lead a team of machinists and quality inspectors.
- Actively participates in EHS activities such as area inspections, safety assessments, team meetings, accident investigations and procedure development.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
- Work hours 3:30pm - 12:00am
We require:- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility, including supervisory experience.
- Experience in machining operations including demonstrated understanding of CNC machining schedules
- Authorization to work in the US

Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.
We would really like to see:- Experience in high mix low volume production environment
- Familiarity with ERP and MES systems
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, GD&T, and metrology.
- Proficiency with CMM programming and manual inspection tools.
- Demonstrated competence in leading programs and/or projects
- Bias for action. Ability to recognize problems and opportunities. Ability to drive problem resolution and follow through to completion.
- Innovative/Creative - drives to develop proprietary, product-differentiating technologies.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Compensation and Benefits:The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $110,000 to $135,000 per year. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position."
