Full Job Description
Determines methods and sequences of operations, and maintains, repairs, services, modifies, and installs all types of machine tools and fabrication machines, such as NC, CNC, DNC machines, robots, or other equipment. Employing multiple types of advanced and/or conventional control systems where it is required to work to exacting tolerances by exercising a complete knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and component functions, machine and component rebuilding and modification theory, techniques and practices, and hydraulics as related to the isolation of servo-control and mechanical drive system malfunctions. Troubleshoots integrally related mechanical and hydraulic drive, control, and traversing systems to isolate malfunctions. Disassembles, repairs, or replaces defective parts, and makes exacting coordinated adjustments as necessary to maintain electronic-hydraulic control sensitivity requirements and overall machine efficiency. Installs or works with manufacturers' personnel in installing machine tools and equipment and test-operates, reworks, and makes adjustments to ensure that performance characteristics agree with applicable specifications. Disassembles, services, and reassembles delicate mechanical and hydraulic functional mechanisms especially vital to machine operations where extreme care must be exercised to avoid damage or introduction of error into system through improper parts alignment and adjustment. Tears down, overhauls, and rebuilds primary machine drive, control and carriage traversing systems of machine tools fabrication machines to restore to manufacturers' original specifications when it is no longer practical or possible to make such machines useful to production by normal service maintenance and repair operations. Sets up and operates machines as necessary to ensure proper machine operation and tolerance prior to release to production personnel. Makes special modifications to and adapts partially automated machines and plant equipment to improve overall performance characteristics and to satisfy special purpose manufacturing and plant requirements. Makes precision layouts, works to exacting tolerances and exercises a high degree of ingenuity in improvising and adapting aids such as hydraulic test benches for the rebuilding, maintenance and testing of machine components and accessories, and in developing new skills and techniques relating to malfunction diagnoses. Performs modification and rework of the level of difficulty described above. Be able to obtain a DOD Secret level clearance. Basic Qualifications Must have one of the following: • Minimum of four years of experience in machine tool repair, including Autoclaves, Industrial Ovens, N/C, CNC, DNC and robots, and maintenance. • Two years of machine tool repair/maintenance and two years of machine operational experience. • A graduate apprentice. Must be proficient in the use of computers and the use of computerized equipment. Must be willing and able to work a 3/12, Friday through Sunday shift. Desired Skills Advanced knowledge of CNC/NC/DNC programming and troubleshooting. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience repairing, overhauling, and rebuilding machine tools, robots, and related hydraulic/electromechanical systems. Proficiency in hydraulic circuit diagnosis, pump/valve servicing, and electronic hydraulic control troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical) Experience performing precision alignments, tolerancing, and metrology (micrometers, dial indicators, laser measurement tools.) Strong problem solving mindset with the ability to develop improvised test fixtures and diagnostic procedures competency with computer based maintenance management systems (CMMS), documentation, and electronic record keeping. Flexibility to work any shift, weekend, or overtime schedule as required. Effective communication skills for coordinating with OEM personnel, engineering teams, and production staff. Pay Information • $31.43 - $53.80 The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics. • For (Washington state applicants only) Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
