About the Position:Greenberg Glusker is seeking a mid-level litigation associate with approximately 3-5 years of experience to join its Litigation Department.
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial litigation experience and be prepared to take meaningful responsibility for matters at all stages of litigation. The associate will work closely with partners and other members of the litigation team on sophisticated disputes while also having opportunities to take ownership of matters, develop case strategy, appear in court, take and defend depositions, and supervise more junior attorneys.
Responsibilities:The associate will be expected to handle a broad range of litigation responsibilities, including:
- Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive court filings;
- Managing written discovery and taking and defending depositions;
- Appearing in state and federal court, including in contested matters;
- Conducting legal research and developing persuasive written analysis on complex legal issues;
- Assisting with case strategy, witness preparation, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation;
- Taking ownership of assigned matters and case workstreams, including managing deadlines and proactively moving matters forward;
- Communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel; and
- Supervising and providing guidance to junior associates and paralegals, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Approximately 3-5 years of substantive litigation experience, preferably at a law firm with a sophisticated commercial litigation practice;
- Experience handling complex commercial, real estate, or business disputes;
- Meaningful experience with written discovery, depositions, substantive pleadings and motions, and court appearances;
- Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills;
- Strong judgment and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage matters and competing deadlines;
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a litigation team; and
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California Bar
