OverviewTISTA Science and Technology is seeking a Linux/UNIX System Administratorto join our growing team.
Responsibilities
The Multi-Cloud Linux/UNIX Systems Administrator is responsible for administering enterprise Linux systems and cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and OCI. This role involves OS installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, and security hardening in both onpremise and multicloud environments. The position supports 24x7x365 operations, including alternate shifts, and requires adherence to SOPs, security standards, and changecontrol procedures.
- Perform routine Linux/UNIX system administration tasks, maintain logs, and ensure system efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot systems, networks, and highavailability environments; apply debugging protocols and implement corrective actions.
- Install operating systems using automated tools (Kickstart, Jumpstart, Ignite) and follow all SOPs.
- Apply VAapproved OS hardening, configure file systems and backup clients, and install layered software (Apache, WebLogic, Oracle DB, Tuxedo).
- Apply OS patches, firmware updates, and vendor patch sets; manage user accounts; monitor system logs and escalate issues as needed.
- Implement security hardening per Service Requests and Change Requests; follow local SOPs for daily operations.
- Support incident and problem resolution; participate in fault isolation; open vendor support cases when needed.
- Resolve OS-related issues during scheduled maintenance windows.
- Administer Linux systems across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and OCI; troubleshoot cloud production issues across compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
- Perform cloud patching, vulnerability remediation, controlled maintenance, and ensure monitoring and backup readiness across platforms.
Qualifications
- Proven Linux/UNIX system administration experience, including complex troubleshooting and highavailability systems.
- Handson experience with automated provisioning (Kickstart, Jumpstart, Ignite).
- Knowledge of OS patching, security hardening, monitoring, and backup tools.
- Familiarity with Apache, WebLogic, Oracle DB, and Tuxedo.
Preferred Certifications
- Linux Administration certification strongly preferred.
- AWS, Azure, OCI, automation, or security certifications.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, electronics engineering or related technical discipline
- Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
