The Licensed Therapist, LCSW/LMFT (DMH) is a grant funded position.

Position Summary

The Licensed Therapist is responsible for coordinating mental health care services for American Indian/Alaskan Natives clients in Los Angeles County. They will provide assessment and counseling/therapy to eligible children, youth, and adults as a member of a treatment team. The Therapist is part of a multi-disciplinary team who works collaboratively with other treatment team members, other UAII service providers, and community partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct program intakes and psychosocial assessments
• Provide individual, couples and family therapy using evidence-based interventions
• Provide psychoeducational group sessions such as parenting classes and support groups
• Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed/required
• Conduct in-home visits, on occasion and as needed
• Partner with Case Coordinator to obtain resources and referrals for the client to sustain the client's involvement in center programs/treatment
• Maintain aftercare follow-up and support/assistance to clients completing center programs/treatment
• Participate in Outpatient Staff meetings, Clinical Case Conferences, and other meetings as appropriate or assigned
• Productivity - 70% of hours worked each week must be billable productivity. For a 40-hour workweek, the billable productivity requirement is 28 hours per week.
• Able to submit all completed paperwork to supervisor within 24 hours of seeing client
• Maintain client charts in a responsible manner and meet all paperwork deadlines as required by DMH and agency policy (e.g. complete case notes and discharge notes on a timely basis, etc.)
• Comply with agency guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Keep Program Manager/Director well-informed regarding activities, pending issues and potential problems
• Ability to work evenings, and/or weekends as needed for Company events.
• Responsible for maintaining a valid licensure and for ensuring timely completion of appropriate Continuing Education Units for renewal of license
• You may perform all elements of this position or identified components, other duties as assigned or required for the purpose of the position or for organizational efficiency and effective client service.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)

• Master's Degree or higher in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or related behavioral health field, or Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an accredited graduate program.
• Current State Licensure in California to practice independently; LCSW, LMFT,
• Minimum one-year clinical experience working with multiple-problem families (e.g. unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, homelessness, etc.)
• Minimum one-year clinical experience with children and families
• Prior experience working with LA County of Department of Mental Health, as an outpatient and/or contracted provider

Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)

• Experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native communities strongly preferred.
• Prior experience working with LA County of Department of Mental Health, as an outpatient and/or contracted provider
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts.

Knowledge & Skills

• Computer skills, including use of databases and electronic health records
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information adhering to HIPAA, professional codes of conduct, State of CA regulations, Privacy Act, and UAII policies and procedures
• Accuracy and attention to detail is a must
• Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing
• Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed modalities to provide culturally relevant care to American Indian/Alaska Native and Indigenous communities
• A self-starter who is able to work independently and as a team member; who consistently demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, efficiency, excellent internal and external customer service, high ethical standards and behavior that contributes to harmonious relationships.
• Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with culturally diverse populations, including youth, adolescents, adults and elders.
• Knowledge of and/or sensitivity to the needs of the American Indian community/culture.
• Willingness to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to the position.
