The San Francisco City Attorney's Office is looking for an experienced, qualified, and motivated professional to join its Information Technology (IT) Team as a Legal Technology Analyst II.

About the Information Technology Team
The team is a collaborative and dynamic group of 13 employees, including an IT Director, two Systems Engineers, four IT Operations Support Administrators, one Application Support/Training employee, a Database Manager, a Business Application Administrator, a Microsoft 365 Administrator, a Law Librarian, and a Legal Technology Analyst II. The team provides its customers with a comprehensive package of applications including litigation support and digital forensic tools essential to delivering efficient and timely legal services to the City and County of San Francisco; conducts ongoing research of hardware and software developments; identifies technologies and knowledge resources appropriate for existing and anticipated office needs; effectively integrates equipment and software into the daily workflow; and facilitates productivity and customer satisfaction through effective customizations and timely support.

About the Legal Technology Analyst II Position
The Office seeks a Legal Technology Analyst II to support the modernization, maintenance, and reliability of its IT systems. A primary responsibility of this role will be to assess current and alternative technology solutions used in legal and litigation workflows, determine the tools that best meet the Office's needs, and implement and support them in a way that improves efficiency, quality of work product, and outcomes.

The ideal candidate has a broad understanding of technologies used in the legal industry, experience supporting them in a high-demand environment, and familiarity with IT governance and service-management principles. This role requires the ability to translate technical concepts into clear guidance for internal customers at all levels of the Office.

Additional Position Information and Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the ideal candidate will:
  • Implement management's technology initiatives by deploying new tools, enhancements, and solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their technical challenges and operational needs to guide them toward effective solutions.
  • Evaluate the current technical environment and identify opportunities to improve processes and technologies.
  • Develop comprehensive user and technical requirements.
  • Conduct training sessions and support end-user adoption of new tools and optimized workflows.
  • Develop usage guidelines, best-practice recommendations, user documentation, training materials, and other supporting resources.
  • Improve system efficiency through innovative problem-solving and solution design.

This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the Office, including the Executive Team, as well as with City partners and external vendors. A strong customer-service mindset-focused on responsiveness, problem solving, and professionalism-is essential. The successful candidate must be a disciplined self-starter as well as a positive team player and have the ability to execute tasks with efficiency and quality while possessing a desire to learn.

As part of a rotating schedule shared among IT team members, the selected candidate will provide 24-hour on-call support to ensure rapid response and recovery in the event of software or hardware issues affecting mission-critical systems and networks.

The successful candidate will be placed at a salary step based on years of experience and additional relevant degrees, certifications, credentials, or skills. The successful candidate will work onsite full time for up to the first six months. Remote work may be available after that period, up to a maximum of one day per week remote. Currently, team members work one remote day per week.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
An associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science, UX/UI design or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field].

Experience:
One (1) year in the information systems field, including technical support, content management, administration of network applications, system analysis, or service design.

Substitution:
One (1) year of additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree.

Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may be substituted for the required degree.
