Overview
We are seeking a creative and innovative Learning and Development Instructional Designer at Brightview Senior Living to design, develop, and deliver effective, engaging, and impactful learning experiences for associates across our portfolio of 50 senior living communities.
Working from our Baltimore Home Office in a hybrid work setting, the Instructional Designer partners with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to create evidence-based learning solutions that incorporate adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, and innovative technology. Through a strategic blend of online, instructor-led, and technology-enhanced learning experiences, this role helps build associate knowledge, strengthen skills, and support a culture of continuous learning and development.

Responsibilities
- Consistently and genuinely demonstrate the STARS principles of Service, Teamwork, Action, Reputation and Success in all activities and interactions.
- Design, and create on a variety of topics through classroom training courses, web-based seminars, informational meetings, written instruction, online courses and one-on-one coaching.
- Develops and designs courses and curriculum.
- Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
- Edits and develops online and in person learning materials.
- Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
- Develops instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.
- Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content.
- Analyzes, updates, and refines existing learning content.
- Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.
- Writes scripts for video and audio content.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.)
- Works with technical team to troubleshoot problems reported by users.
- Assists in updating training materials as needed and participates in the maintenance of the Brightview University pages on corporate intranet.
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary Range$85,000 - $100,000/yr
Compensation Disclosure
The salary range mentioned above reflects the potential pay for this role and does not include bonuses or additional incentives (if applicable), nor does it include the value of our benefit program. Offers will consider factors like experience, qualifications, location, community size (if relevant), certifications/training, etc. Brightview regularly reviews and adjusts compensation ranges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree from a four-year college or university and three – four years’ experience in instructional design, education, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and/or instructional design experience in the senior living or hospitality industry strongly preferred.
- Experience working with older adults who may experience cognitive and physical challenges.
- Two or more years leadership experience with direct reports preferred.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet based applications such as web conferencing and the ability to quickly master new applications.
- Audio and video editing skills
- Excellent web design skills including experience in basic graphic design.
- Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to connect and communicate effectively with associates of all levels.
