Lead Value Evidence, MA-USPurpose & Scope The Lead (Director), Medical Value Evidence (MVE), MA-US is accountable for working with the brand team to create and execute US MVE strategies and tactics within their assigned product and ensures impactful value evidence communication.
This role requires a highly experienced Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) professional with deep expertise in the US healthcare environment, preferably in women's health and/or primary care. The individual must demonstrate strong strategic thinking and leadership, with the ability to translate insights into actionable value evidence strategies that support brand success and patient access.
The Lead, MVE will ensure prioritization of value evidence generation activities to demonstrate the value of Astellas' compounds to relevant external stakeholders including but not limited to Payers, HCPs, policy makers, related key stakeholders and patients and to optimize the likelihood to obtain and maintain market access for the assigned Astellas products.
The Lead is responsible for representing the Medical Value Evidence and Access voice in the US Local Brand Team and seeking alignment of MVE&A activities with Global Value Evidence.
This role requires in-depth understanding of the US healthcare environment and close partnership with US Market Access and Medical teams to optimize insight translation into MVE strategies that support the Brand Strategy.
Role and Responsibilities - Lead strategic discussions of Value Evidence needs, priorities, challenges and impact as core or extended members of US Local Brand Team
- Responsible to develop VE strategies and tactics that are evidence based, scientifically valid, and medically relevant and patient focused; address the drivers, barriers and needs of local HTA, payers, patients, health care providers, policy makers and regulators in line with the brand plans, and are integrated in the Core Medical Plans and integrated Evidence Generation Plans. The results produced by the MVE Lead must be in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Demonstrate a strong track record of delivering high-impact HEOR/value evidence strategies and outputs (e.g., RWE, economic models, dossiers, publications) that have measurably influenced payer decisions, access outcomes, or clinical practice.
- Responsible for delivery and dissemination of value evidence including but not limited to real world evidence (including both primary data collection and secondary data use), comparative effectiveness, patient reported outcomes, post hoc analyses, epidemiologic data, and patient experience data for assigned Astellas products, address business needs, and supports patient access and HTA/reimbursement requirements with expectations for peer-reviewed publications relevant to VE strategies including but not limited to publications and development of medical materials.
- Ensure prioritization of value evidence generation activities balancing external stakeholders' needs including but not limited to Payer, HCPs, Regulators, and other healthcare decision makers, and patients
- Responsible for critical evaluation and interpretation of generated evidence to enable impactful and compelling value evidence communication/dissemination.
- Develop US economic models and value/HTA dossiers (AMCP dossiers) with close collaboration with US Market Access and Medical Value & Access.
- Maintain an integrated partnership within Medical Affairs and cross-functional colleagues including Market Access and other commercial functions and Regulatory Affairs to identify collaborative opportunities, ensure optimal alignment, leverage resources, and support business priorities
- Maintain relationships with key external stakeholders such as KEE, patient advocacy groups, healthcare providers.
- Deliver Value Evidence for Regulators, HTA/payers, HCP, and other stakeholders to inform unmet clinical and economic need, disease burden, epidemiology, treatment landscape, treatment patterns, real-world experience, and competitive differentiation.
- Actively monitor the changing the US healthcare landscape to anticipate future needs of internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with Astellas leadership to address those needs.
- Actively promote strategic collaborations with other Astellas VE colleagues across the globe to share and replicate best practices and advance VE initiatives to support the Astellas product portfolio and patient access.
Required Qualifications - Advanced Degree (PharmD, PhD, DrPH, MD) with consideration for MPH or other advanced degree in Life Sciences, Health Economics or Epidemiology with relevant advanced industry experience
- >5-7 years relevant experience in at least one of the following fields: Outcomes Research, Health Economics, Clinical or Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Health Policy
- Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and influence key stakeholders
- Strong leadership capabilities, including experience guiding matrix teams and partnering across Medical Affairs, Market Access and Commercial functions.
- Expertise in understanding the interface between clinical practice and outcomes research
- Expertise in leveraging outcomes data in the appropriate clinical context
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and collaboration skills working within cross-functional teams
- Thorough understanding of global/US guidelines as they relate to Health Economics & Outcomes Research and Medical Affairs
- Expertise in US payer, health systems and market access landscapes
- A collaborative style of working and a strong sense of ethics, compliance and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Expertise in pharmaceutical research design and methods as well as excellent project and vendor management skills
- Approximately 20-30% travel required
Preferred Qualifications - Preferred >7 years relevant experience in at least one of the following fields: Outcomes Research, Health Economics, Clinical or Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Health Policy
- Extensive knowledge of US healthcare delivery systems (e.g. managed care, pharmacy benefit management, government/CMS [Medicare, Medicaid]) and solid understanding of policy issues
- Experience in women's health and/or primary care therapeutic areas strongly preferred
- Proven ability to operate at a strategic level within cross-functional brand teams
Location and Working Environment- This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from anywhere in the US is available.

Salary Range$170,450 - $243,500 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
