Description

The Lead Systems Engineer serves as the technical authority for assigned efforts, providing engineering leadership, establishing the technical baseline, mentoring engineering teams, and serving as the primary interface with Government engineering leadership.

This position supports programs in Huntsville, Alabama, with work performed in a hybrid environment that includes customer facilities, integration laboratories, and test facilities. Travel is anticipated to be less than 10%.

Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the system lifecycle.
• Establish and maintain the program's technical baseline, architecture, and systems engineering strategy.
• Lead implementation of MBSE methodologies using Cameo/MagicDraw, IBM DOORS, Jama, and related Digital Engineering tools.
• Lead requirements development, decomposition, allocation, interface management, and verification planning.
• Develop and oversee Digital Engineering environments, Digital Threads, and engineering data integration strategies.
• Lead technical trade studies, engineering analyses, and architecture development.
• Chair technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and SVR.
• Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve complex cross-functional engineering issues.
• Establish engineering processes, standards, and MBSE best practices across the program.
• Mentor systems engineers and foster technical growth within the engineering organization.
• Advise program management regarding technical execution, schedule, performance, and engineering priorities.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with Government customers, partners, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of systems engineering experience supporting complex DoD or Government programs.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Expert knowledge of MBSE methodologies, SysML, and Digital Engineering practices.
• Extensive experience with Cameo/MagicDraw, IBM DOORS, Jama, Rhapsody, or comparable MBSE tools.
• Experience establishing system architectures, technical baselines, and engineering governance.
• Experience leading major technical reviews and technical decision-making.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and customer engagement skills.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering staff.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• U.S. Citizenship and an Active DoD Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience serving as Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, or Technical Director on DoD acquisition programs.
• Experience implementing Digital Engineering strategies in accordance with DoDI 5000.97.
• Experience implementing Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA).
• Experience with Government Reference Architectures and Digital Thread implementation.
• Experience supporting missile defense, hypersonic, or space systems.
