Role DescriptionForm Energy is seeking a Lead System Integration Engineer to serve as the critical technical bridge between our Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware and Software teams. In this role, you will be the connective tissue that ensures complex PCBA designs and embedded software modules are seamlessly integrated and rigorously aligned with high-level system requirements. You will own the technical stewardship of the BMS integration lifecycle, driving the architectural coherence and functional performance necessary to deliver our groundbreaking 100-hour iron-air energy storage systems.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:- Orchestrate the integration of BMS hardware (sensors, actuators, and power circuitry) with embedded software control modules to ensure seamless functional performance.
- Lead the decomposition of high-level system requirements into actionable, bi-directionally traceable, and testable specifications for both hardware and software teams.
- Establish and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Hardware-Software Interface (HSI) definitions to govern communication and clear pinout expectations.
- Oversee the development of validation and integration plans, including the use of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and System Integration Test Beds to verify safety and reliability under diverse conditions.
- Drive the execution of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Circuit FMEA (CFMEA) to proactively identify and mitigate integration-level risks.
- Act as the central partner for Design, Test, and Validation teams, reconciling interface nonconformities and maintaining architectural integrity from prototype to production.
- Champion standardized Systems Engineering workflows (V-model, ASPICE) and mentor junior engineers in requirement linking and design coverage assessment.
What you'll bring:- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, product integration, or technical lead roles within deep-tech industries (e.g., Energy Storage, Automotive, or Aerospace).
- Deep knowledge across multiple disciplines, including electrical schematic analysis, power electronics, and embedded real-time software development.
- Mastery of requirement management tools (e.g., Jama, Polarion, or DOORS) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Catia Magic or SysML.
- Demonstrated experience with Battery Management Systems, including battery charging/discharging logic, thermal monitoring, and fault management strategies.
- Strong command of the Systems Engineering V-model and familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or UL 1998).
- Proven ability to conduct root-cause analysis for complex system-level failures and conduct detailed power and load budget analyses.
- Exceptional technical communication skills with the ability to translate high-level product goals into actionable technical strategies for multidisciplinary teams.
