The Lead Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Biopharma Life Sciences, collaborates within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to develop comprehensive construction documents for critical systems, including HVAC (wet and dry), plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing/process facilities and life science facilities
  • Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
  • Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
  • Supports project on-site execution and make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by discipline team
  • Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation
  • Diagrams, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems
  • Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Autodesk Building Systems Software


Preferred
  • Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of biologics and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and systems
  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in the quality control review process
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
