We are seeking a
Lead Manufacturing Engineer in our
Broomfield, CO, location. This role will lead manufacturing engineering for a team industrializing and manufacturing complex ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) hardware. The engineer will define the manufacturing vision for next-generation systems, engage early with design partners to drive manufacturability, and plan future manufacturing facilities and workstreams. This is a hands-on role that will work directly with technicians to build, integrate, and troubleshoot hardware.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the manufacturing engineering lead for the team, setting technical direction, priorities, standards, and best practices for current and next-generation systems
- Create and maintain the manufacturing vision and integrated plan for next-generation systems, including manufacturing readiness, capacity, capital equipment, and production ramp
- Engage early with upstream design partners to influence architecture, define manufacturing requirements, and drive manufacturability, assembly, testability, reliability, and cost into the design
- Plan future manufacturing facilities and workstreams, including production layouts, equipment, material flow, cleanroom needs, and phased capacity expansion
- Own manufacturing readiness from concept through production release by establishing process flows, work instructions, build travelers, inspection and test methods, tooling, training, and release criteria
- Partner with quality and drive cost initiatives to meet production targets for material, labor, yield, cycle time and cost
- Work side by side with technicians and operators to assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and deliver complex UHV systems while providing real-time technical direction and removing barriers to progress
- Travel may be required up to 10%
YOU MUST HAVE:- Bachelor's degree minimum
- Minimum 8 years of experience in hardware manufacturing or product industrialization

- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
- Experience serving as a manufacturing technical lead and defining manufacturing strategy, readiness plans, and production investments for new or next-generation products
- Proven ability to influence product architecture and design decisions through DFM/DFA, design reviews, prototyping, and manufacturing risk assessment
- Experience planning or launching manufacturing facilities, production cells, cleanroom workstreams, capital equipment, material flow, and capacity expansions
- Hands-on experience leading builds and working alongside technicians to assemble, integrate, test, and troubleshoot high-complexity, low-volume hardware while meeting schedule, quality, and safety commitments
- Demonstrated success establishing scalable production systems through process flows, work instructions, build travelers, inspection plans, test procedures, operator training, and manufacturing readiness reviews
- Strong technical ownership, organization, communication, and cross-functional leadership, with the ability to remain closely engaged on the production floor and build trust with technicians
$148,000 - $199,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:The base pay range for this role is $148,000 - $199,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
