Full Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Applications Scientist - Consumer Health to support the development and commercialization of oral solid dose products, including tablets, capsules, and other consumer health formats. This role will design and execute laboratory studies, develop and optimize formulations and processes, analyze complex data, and translate scientific findings into clear technical recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

The scientist will work closely with customer-facing scientists, regional and global technical teams, laboratory colleagues, and cross-functional partners to address customer needs and advance consumer health applications. Through rigorous science and practical application expertise, this role will help turn natural raw materials and innovative excipient technologies into reliable, effective, and consumer-relevant health solutions.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $90,000-$136,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

Oral Solid Dose Development
• Design, plan, and execute oral solid dose development studies for consumer health applications, including formulation screening, optimization, and product/process evaluations using Roquette excipients and technologies.
• Prepare formulations and conduct laboratory trials using pharmaceutical processing and characterization equipment, including mixers, blenders, granulators, tablet presses, and related equipment.
• Investigate formulation and process impacts on product performance, manufacturability, stability, and consumer-relevant attributes while developing technical solutions for customer, new product development, optimization, and commercialization projects.

Data Analysis and Technical Communication
• Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods, analytical tools, data tables, and graphical representations, including evaluation of flow, compression behavior, tabletability, disintegration, dissolution, and physical robustness.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and traceable records of experiments, observations, data, and results in an electronic laboratory notebook and applicable systems.
• Prepare and communicate clear technical reports, study summaries, presentations, recommendations, customer-facing documentation, application guides, and marketing materials for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration and Technical Leadership
• Collaborate with customer-facing scientists, senior scientists, laboratory teams, and cross-functional partners to define project objectives, coordinate activities, and deliver projects within established timelines.
• Provide technical guidance and share learnings, best practices, and application insights across regional and global technical communities while staying current on consumer health trends, oral solid dose technologies, scientific literature, regulatory considerations, and customer applications.
• Support commercialization through application trials, technical support, customer engagement, and promotional activities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, data integrity, and responsible laboratory practices.

What You'll Need:

Education:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• An advanced degree in pharmaceutics, formulation science, pharmaceutical engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:
• Minimum of five years of experience in the pharmaceutical, consumer health, excipient, specialty chemicals, or related industry, including direct laboratory experience.
• Experience in oral solid dose development, formulation, pharmaceutical processing, product characterization, or related applications-science activities; experience with tablets, capsules, powders, granulation, blending, or compression is preferred.
• Experience designing and executing experiments, analyzing scientific data, documenting laboratory results, and preparing clear technical reports and recommendations.
• Experience with excipient functionality, formulation-performance relationships, formulation troubleshooting, competitive product evaluation, customer applications, new product development, or commercialization is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with customer-facing scientists, laboratory teams, and cross-functional partners to manage multiple projects and deliver results within established timelines is preferred.

Physical Demands
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to communicate, stand, walk, bend, reach, handle laboratory materials and equipment, and lift or carry supplies and test materials.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
• This is a full-time position with standard business hours. Occasional flexibility in work hours may be required to support project needs or collaboration with colleagues in other time zones.

Business Travel:
• Approximately 20% domestic travel may be expected.
• Occasional international travel may be expected.
