Job Description
Position Summary
The Lead Accountant is responsible for Southland's financial recordkeeping including recording financial transactions, managing accounts and account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position also provides a higher level of customer service to both internal departments and external customers.
Position Details
Assist Accounting Manager to oversee and monitor daily operations of assigned areas ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting systems and internal controls
Maintain knowledge of best practices, and current and proposed legislation and regulation; recommend changes to accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
Works with the accounting manager on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization
Lead departmental projects to include change/implementation of new policies and procedures
Complete month-end and fiscal year-end financial reports
Reviews/completes analysis of complex accounting issues
Qualifications
