This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will perform the testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of fluid systems associated with launch facilities and space vehicles. Typical systems include high pressure gas, high pressure hydraulics, raw water and environmental control.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teams to build, operate, and maintain a world class launch site and launch vehicle
  • Author and run procedures for commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and fluid system operations
  • Collaborate on system safety, perform hazards analysis and job hazards analyses; guide work using hierarchy of controls for safety
  • Operate and maintain launch pad piping systems including hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems
  • Assist with oversight commissioning and operation of new or modified piping/pressure systems
  • Occasional travel may be necessary
  • Occasional second shift may be necessary


Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or similar discipline
  • 2+ years relevant experience with design or fluid system operation, including high pressure gas or high pressure hydraulic systems
  • Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures for qualification, acceptance, and operations of hazardous and/or safety critical components and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams composed of multiple roles and disciplines to achieve a common goal
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with design or fluid system operation, including high pressure gas or high pressure hydraulic systems
  • 2+ years experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and/or piping systems
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc.)
  • Knowledge of typical use, constraints, and specification of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc).
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs, fabrication and installation drawings for piping systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing and/or operations of piping systems
  • Experience with design and operation of typical aerospace fuel, oxidizer and high-pressure pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning processes, cleanliness verification levels and passivation of stainless steel
