Land Development Practice

Through an integrated approach to all stages of land development, we guide clients through the entire life cycle of a project, beginning with due diligence, initial site planning and entitlement approvals, through final engineering, construction management and surveying.

Our engineering team collaborates with in-house planning and surveying professionals to deliver quality service that achieves our clients' strategic development goals. We understand that land development engineering for commercial, residential and public use requires a creative, cost-effective, schedule-driven approach.

What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Land Development team in the Moon Township, PA office. The successful candidate will be a Site Civil/Land Development Project Engineer for all aspects of planning, design, and plan preparation for a variety of land development projects. Responsibilities include civil design of roadways, sewers, utilities, water and storm drain improvement plans, hydrology and hydraulic calculations, and land development rough and precise grading including cost estimates and specifications.

A Hybrid working arrangement is available within the Pittsburgh, PA area.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare moderately complex engineering studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation in support of civil design projects
  • Develop quantity calculations, cost estimates, and project-specific technical specifications
  • Maintain and enhance technical expertise through professional development activities, including training programs, seminars, industry publications, and internal systems and management training
  • Assist in defining project scopes of work and developing associated labor-hour estimates
  • Prepare permit application packages and supporting documentation for submission to regulatory agencies to secure required project approvals

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from and accredited university
  • 4-6 years of related experience
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and achieving project objectives

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position $78,099 - $112,769 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
