Responsibilities
The Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor (MLS Supervisor) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a laboratory department. With direct oversight of staff who perform clinical laboratory testing specific to that laboratory department.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
- ASCP or equivalent.
- Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
- If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) or Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
- Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
- Clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory.
- 1+ years' experience with high complexity testing if indicated (required for Blood Bank).
- Overall knowledge of lab operations including quality control, safety, and problem solving.
- Shows evidence of leadership skills managing people.
- Knowledge of department shift operations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in a clinical laboratory.
- Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.
- Blood Bank Experience
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
