Position Summary

Ogletree Deakins, one of the nation's largest labor and employment law firms, is seeking an experienced labor attorney to join the traditional labor law practice group in its Portland, Oregon office. This position offers an immediate opportunity to engage in substantive client work from the outset, with meaningful prospects for professional growth and practice development over time. The firm seeks a driven attorney who values direct client relationships and is committed to building a distinguished career within a nationally recognized platform. The ideal candidate has experience working with employers on traditional labor law matters, including arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings, collective bargaining and other labor and employment matters.

Unlike many comparable positions at peer firms, this role is designed for an attorney prepared to assume meaningful responsibility. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with seasoned labor practitioners on complex matters while maintaining direct client engagement from the outset. As those relationships mature, there is a clear path to expanded practice responsibilities and a leadership role within the group.

Ogletree Deakins' Portland office is home to one of the most dynamic labor and employment practices in the Pacific Northwest, and it is actively expanding to meet growing client demand. That growth creates genuine opportunity for attorneys seeking upward trajectory and increasing levels of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in Oregon. We will also consider candidates actively seeking admission to the Oregon bar. During employment, must meet requirements for continuing licensure for law practice.
  • Candidate must possess traditional labor experience.
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and work independently.

This position is available as a traditional shareholder-track role based in our Portland, OR office. Alternatively, there is flexibility for a reduced hours or non-shareholder track position for candidates who require greater flexibility.

Benefits

Ogletree Deakins offers a robust suite of benefits for our attorneys including: comprehensive training and development programs including an annual firm-wide Attorney Retreat, CLE and bar admission expense reimbursement, several competitive annual bonus programs, 401(k) plan, affordable health, and life insurance including dental and vision coverage, flexible spending accounts to help offset the cost of dependent care and/or health care expenses, employee assistance program, back-up childcare program, and a paid parental leave on-ramping program.
