Role Overview:The Lab Engineering position in the R&D area requires a skilled Engineer familiar with supporting scientists with laboratory PCs, instrumentation, and devices. Lab Engineers are focused on maintaining operational computer systems for the scientists they support, joining newly-supplied hardware to the network, securing and hardening devices, and generally facilitating the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in maintaining existing computer infrastructure of 5000 PCs globally.
- Image/Onboard new computers into the domain and onto the network and decommission them.
- Secure and protect new and existing hardware.
- Consult with the business as they require assistance with their equipment.
- Troubleshoot and implement data flows for scientific instruments.
- Implement the validated data backup solution on laboratory analytical equipment (equipment and software investigation, documentation, technical configuration) within R&D (GxP and non-GxP).
- Support for scientists in incident management, user support and coaching, access management.
- Testing and validation of computer software (complete tests in different environments, writing technical documentation).
Required Skills:- Outstanding computer troubleshooting skills for obscure issues, ranging from device connectivity and laboratory software issues.
- Background with End-user Computing or Desktop Support skills essential.
- Understanding of Hardware Components and Networking concepts, such as network topography, VLANs, Static/Dynamic IPs, Subnetting, IT/OT Networks, and basic understanding of firewalls. Candidate should be familiar with the OSI model and how to troubleshoot different network layers.
- Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory.
- D2D and/or project support.
- AGILE ways of working necessary.
- Background with computer security.
- Familiar with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
- Must have outstanding communication skills.
- Candidate must be a team player.
- Self-starter, attention to detail and willingness to learn new things.
- Must be willing to follow processes, procedures and guidance.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications:- Previous experience with validated systems (GxP) a plus.
Preferred Skills:- Microsoft Excel skills a plus.
- In-depth knowledge in Microsoft OS including iOS and Linux a plus.
- Experience in leading team is a plus.
