Full Job Description
Role Overview:

The Lab Engineering position in the R&D area requires a skilled Engineer familiar with supporting scientists with laboratory PCs, instrumentation, and devices. Lab Engineers are focused on maintaining operational computer systems for the scientists they support, joining newly-supplied hardware to the network, securing and hardening devices, and generally facilitating the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining existing computer infrastructure of 5000 PCs globally.
  • Image/Onboard new computers into the domain and onto the network and decommission them.
  • Secure and protect new and existing hardware.
  • Consult with the business as they require assistance with their equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and implement data flows for scientific instruments.
  • Implement the validated data backup solution on laboratory analytical equipment (equipment and software investigation, documentation, technical configuration) within R&D (GxP and non-GxP).
  • Support for scientists in incident management, user support and coaching, access management.
  • Testing and validation of computer software (complete tests in different environments, writing technical documentation).

Required Skills:
  • Outstanding computer troubleshooting skills for obscure issues, ranging from device connectivity and laboratory software issues.
  • Background with End-user Computing or Desktop Support skills essential.
  • Understanding of Hardware Components and Networking concepts, such as network topography, VLANs, Static/Dynamic IPs, Subnetting, IT/OT Networks, and basic understanding of firewalls. Candidate should be familiar with the OSI model and how to troubleshoot different network layers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory.
  • D2D and/or project support.
  • AGILE ways of working necessary.
  • Background with computer security.
  • Familiar with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
  • Must have outstanding communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a team player.
  • Self-starter, attention to detail and willingness to learn new things.
  • Must be willing to follow processes, procedures and guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with validated systems (GxP) a plus.

Preferred Skills:
  • Microsoft Excel skills a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge in Microsoft OS including iOS and Linux a plus.
  • Experience in leading team is a plus.
