Full Job Description

Hexcel is seeking a Key Account Manager, Industrial Americas to drive profitable growth across its Industrial business in the Americas, with a strong focus on the U.S. market.  This position will have primary responsibility for strategic Automotive accounts and the Industrial Distribution network, while also supporting growth opportunities in emerging New Space and Defense markets, including small satellites and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).  The successful candidate will build and manage strategic customer relationships, identify and develop new business opportunities, negotiate commercial agreements, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver technical and commercial solutions that meet customer needs.  This is a remote position, and candidates should be based near a major U.S. airport. Candidates located in or near Salt Lake City, Utah, are preferred. Approximately 25% travel is expected.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

 

  • Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key Industrial customers across the Americas, with a particular focus on Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers and the Distribution network.
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities within existing and prospective accounts, including opportunities supporting the New Space and Defense markets.
  • Manage assigned customer accounts through structured account and engagement plans, including opportunity management, contract negotiations, customer satisfaction, receivables, forecasting, and issue escalation.
  • Achieve annual sales targets and negotiate long-term supply agreements that support strategic growth and sustainable profitability.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop account strategies, establish priorities, and deliver on customer commitments.
  • Coordinate commercial and technical proposals with Product Management, Technical Support, Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D, ensuring alignment on pricing, margins, capacity, product qualification timelines, customer commitments, and new product development.
  • Partner with Technical Engineering Support and R&T teams to develop innovative products and solutions for technically challenging customer applications.
  • Lead and coordinate customer and sales initiatives involving multiple internal stakeholders, OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and partners across multiple geographic regions.
  • Provide clear, concise internal reporting and effectively tailor communications to different audiences and channels, including virtual, written, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Build collaborative relationships internally and externally to identify new opportunities and support long-term business growth.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM
  • 5+ years of experience in field sales, key account management, business development, or a related customer-facing commercial role.
  • Demonstrated direct customer selling and relationship-management experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic customer relationships.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, collaborative approach with strong results orientation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25%.

 

Preferred:

  • Sales or account-management experience within Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Advanced Materials, Composites, or other engineered-product industries.
  • Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and/or distribution channels.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and composite manufacturing processes.
  • Experience negotiating long-term supply agreements and managing complex technical or commercial accounts.
  • Conversational proficiency in an additional language, particularly Spanish, German, or Japanese.
  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth and taking on expanded responsibilities.
