Senior Software Engineer - Java, Spring Boot & AzureJob DescriptionPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications and services. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, the Spring ecosystem, Azure cloud services, databases, and event-driven architecture.
This engineer will contribute to the design of modern distributed systems, build secure and reliable APIs, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity. Depending on the project, some positions may also require Python and Databricks experience.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain responsive, high-performance front-end applications using Angular and JavaScript.
- Build reusable components and write clean, testable, well-documented code.
- Containerize and deploy applications to Azure Container Apps, and help manage their configuration, scaling, and environments.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate builds, tests, and deployments.
- Manage source control workflows in GitHub, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Use AI-assisted developer tools (such as GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development, improve test coverage, and streamline debugging and refactoring.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team retrospectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and monitor application performance.
- Collaborate with UX designers and backend engineers to translate requirements into polished features.
Required Qualifications- Strong, hands-on experience with Angular and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience deploying and running applications on Azure Container Apps or comparable container-based platforms.
- Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions for version control and CI/CD.
- Working experience with AI-assisted developer tools and a practical understanding of how to use them responsibly and effectively.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating front-end applications with backend services.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
- 3-8 years of industry experience
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with TypeScript, RxJS, and NgRx or other state management approaches.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerization best practices.
- Experience with unit and end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jasmine, Karma, Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
- Knowledge of Azure services such as Azure Container Registry, Azure Monitor, or Application Insights.
- Understanding of web security, accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
