This IT Specialist (Data Management) position is in the Data Governance Division (DGD) within the Office of the Executive Director (OED) at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.As a IT SPECIALIST (DATA MANAGEMENT), some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Leading the design, development, and operation of the agency's data platform delivering data ingestion, transformation, visualization, and reporting capabilities in alignment with enterprise data governance and stewardship standards and practices.
- Managing data infrastructure throughout its lifecycle including architecture, design, deployment, maintenance, and deprovisioning phases. Engaging with architecture governance bodies and working groups to align data infrastructure approaches and adopt industry best practices.
- Collaborating effectively with IT partners to ensure that systems and processes comply with administrative and security requirements established by federal mandate, agency policy, or departmental policy. Ensuring that controls implemented on data stores and analytics applications are consistent with agency policies on access to sensitive data.
- Promoting the adoption of data platform capabilities by improving the user experience, identifying training needs, and creating effective communications in consultation with change management specialists.
- Providing Agile Data Management leadership by sustaining Agile work practices, articulating objectives and requirements, evaluating completed work, and engaging in Agile ceremonies in alignment with Division and Enterprise standards for Agile development.

2210 IT Specialist.You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Leading or managing a technical team to deliver data access, data movement, data pipelines, data transformation, data visualization, or data analytics in support of users or mission.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To comply with these regulations and statutes, divestiture of at least some energy securities is likely to be required after you begin employment. - Receive authorization from OPM on any job offer you receive, if you are or were (within the last 5 years) a political Schedule A, Schedule C, or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch.
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider:
- your performance and conduct;
- the needs and interests of the agency;
- whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and
- whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
