Role PurposeThe IT Controls Engineer supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing control systems and operational technology across both Trivium manufacturing facilities. This role partners with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and IT to ensure reliable connectivity between plant-floor equipment and enterprise systems.
The position supports PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, historians, industrial networks, and manufacturing data platforms. It also enables data collection for reporting, analytics, AI, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities- Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, and related automation systems.
- Integrate manufacturing equipment with enterprise systems, MES, historians, and analytics platforms.
- Configure and support manufacturing data acquisition tools, including OSI PI and PI Vision.
- Enable collection and reporting of production, quality, and process data.
- Support industrial communication protocols such as OPC, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, MQTT, and serial communications.
- Partner with infrastructure teams on plant-floor networking, segmentation, and OT security requirements.
- Support OT cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery, and system hardening efforts.
- Participate in new line deployments, modernization projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, system diagrams, and support procedures.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing incidents and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing systems, industrial controls, or OT environments.
- Experience integrating manufacturing equipment with enterprise systems.
- Experience supporting high-availability manufacturing operations.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- SCADA/HMI systems
- OSI PI Historian and PI Vision
- Industrial networking and communication protocols
- OPC, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP
- SQL databases and data querying
- Manufacturing process control and machine data collection systems
- System integration and troubleshooting
- OT cybersecurity fundamentals
- Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and wireless
- Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000
- Knowledge of MQTT, Power BI, Databricks, Python, C#/.NET, Azure IoT, or MES platforms
- Experience with AI, machine learning, smart manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 initiatives
Desired Qualifications- Project leadership and multi-site manufacturing support experience
- Experience with FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Ignition, Siemens TIA Portal, Schneider EcoStruxure, or Kepware
- Experience in fiber optic or cable manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and production reporting systems
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $94,390.00 - $129,787.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
