DescriptionEnterprise IT organizations make decisions that change how an entire workforce operates, and those decisions stall when the people affected hear about them late, in the wrong language, or not at all. The Red Gate Group is seeking an
IT Communication Strategist to serve as the communication lead for a program office inside the enterprise IT organization of a major Intelligence Community customer. You will own the office's recurring leadership and workforce communications: drafting the weekly messages that go out under leadership's name, editing branch inputs, and preparing the consolidated report that leadership reviews each week. You will review and edit the products that carry the office's decisions upward and outward, including senior leader briefs, trip reports, and customer-facing documents, and you will give feedback at pre-briefs before those products reach decision makers.
You will sit in project and governance meetings to anticipate communication requirements before they become requests, advise project teams on how and when to communicate, and turn change management and governance activity into messaging that leadership and the workforce can act on. You will also develop operating guidelines for the office and respond to leadership requests for information against division and CIO-level deadlines. This is an expert-level position, and the government treats the person in this seat as an advisor rather than a drafter. You set the communication approach, you are the office's standard for written quality, and you work directly with senior government leaders, bringing recommendations on how and when to engage their audiences.
You Have- 12+ years of experience in IT strategy, enterprise IT program support, or strategic communications in support of senior technology leadership, including recent experience within the last 2 years. This experience requirement is firm and cannot be met through education or certifications.
- Master's degree in a related field, or one of the following in its place: an Associate's degree in a related field and 4 additional years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 additional years of relevant experience, or 6 additional years of relevant experience. The additional years used in place of the degree are on top of the 12 year experience requirement above, not counted within it.
In plain terms: with a Master's you need 12 years, with a Bachelor's 14, with an Associate's 16, and with no degree 18.
- Experience writing recurring leadership and workforce communications for an IT or technology organization, such as weekly leadership messages, executive updates, and consolidated status reports built from multiple team inputs.
- Experience editing and preparing executive-level products, including senior leader briefs, trip reports, and customer-facing documents, and providing feedback in pre-brief settings.
- Experience advising project teams and senior leaders on communication planning, including anticipating communication needs from project, change management, and governance activity.
- Experience developing operating guidelines, standards, or process documentation for an IT program or project office.
- Experience working inside an IT organization or IT program office, with working knowledge of IT operations, IT projects, and governance processes such as technical review boards or change advisory boards.
- Experience advising senior government personnel directly, including serving as a trusted advisor to government leadership and communicating comfortably at that level.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI polygraph.
Nice If You Have- Experience supporting a chief information officer organization or enterprise IT program office within the Department of War or Intelligence Community.
