Full Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager of IT Facilities, this position is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and operational support of the UCLA Health IT Facilities infrastructure supporting ISS Enterprise systems and the CareConnect Electronic Health Record (EHR) environment. The role ensures the reliability, availability, and stability of the LAN/WAN network infrastructure and IT facilities technologies that support mission-critical clinical and business operations.

Serves as the lead for IT Facilities project management, coordinating the planning, design, and construction of communications infrastructure across UCLA Health campuses, including West Valley Medical Center, Mid-Wilshire Medical Center, Westwood Campus, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, UCLA Orthopaedic Hospital, and affiliated ambulatory clinics. Responsibilities include managing structured cabling projects, facilities infrastructure installations, data center and telecommunications room (TR) infrastructure, and all associated moves, adds, changes, and upgrades while ensuring quality, schedule, and compliance with UCLA Health standards.

Develops comprehensive project plans, communication plans, schedules, and project documentation. Conducts facility assessments and physical site surveys to evaluate existing infrastructure, identify future communication requirements, and ensure project activities do not adversely impact production services. Coordinates second-carrier entrance planning, terminal locations, structured cabling, and related infrastructure improvements for new construction and renovation projects.

Manages project execution through ServiceNow, ensuring work orders are prioritized, tracked, and completed within established timelines. Collaborates with IT Facilities, Network Services, Engineering, Project Management, and external vendors to deliver infrastructure projects and establish WAN connectivity throughout the UCLA Health network.

Maintains current knowledge of infrastructure technologies, operational issues, and industry best practices while managing facility-related changes through the formal Change Management process. Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise for IT Facilities initiatives, ensuring engineering and operational resources are aligned with organizational priorities and strategic objectives.

Serves as the engineering and project lead for the deployment, implementation, and ongoing 24x7 operational support of the ISS MEDNET infrastructure, including data centers, Main Points of Entry (MPOEs), and Telecommunications Rooms (TRs). In the absence of the IT Facilities Lead or Director, assumes operational leadership responsibilities to ensure continuity of critical infrastructure services.

Supports the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT Facilities policies, standards, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation. Participates in IT Operations resource capacity planning by collaborating with the IT Facilities Director, Project Management Office (PMO), and Operations teams to ensure appropriate staffing, resource allocation, and successful delivery of infrastructure projects that support UCLA Health's strategic and operational goals.

This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on an as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.

Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $ 110,977.2 - $ 246,216.96 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range.
