JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Sales and Business Development Lead will develop and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with customers, prospects, the MW Fasteners Sales Team, and internal cross-functional teams to drive profitable revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and identify new business opportunities. The primary focus of this position is to proactively engage existing and prospective customers, gather planning and forecasting information, and increase customer spend with the location.

This position requires approximately 25% travel to customer and prospect locations, targeted geographic markets, industry events, MW Fasteners facilities, and other business-related destinations.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Utilize lead-generation tools, CRM data, market research, dormant customer and part activity, customer referrals, and other sales resources to develop new opportunities and expand existing accounts.
  • Serve as a key commercial liaison between the customer and the location, coordinating quoting, technical inquiries, new product opportunities, delivery requirements, and significant customer concerns.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other MW Fasteners locations to ensure customer requirements are understood and effectively executed.
  • Maintain ownership and accountability for customer communication and follow-through from initial opportunity through quotation, award, order fulfillment, and ongoing account development.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow profitable revenue and customer spend within assigned accounts, targeted markets, and priority industries.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting focused on dormant and inactive customers, digital and general marketing leads, current customers, and new customers aligned with the location's capabilities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and progress qualified opportunities from initial identification through quotation, follow-up, negotiation, and award.
  • Support customer new-product development and new-program activities by coordinating with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Estimating, and other internal resources.
  • Promote the broader capabilities of MW Fasteners and identify cross-selling opportunities involving products and processes available through other MW Fasteners locations.
  • Gather and communicate customer forecasts, planning information, upcoming programs, market conditions, sourcing strategies, competitive activity, and other information that may affect future business.
  • Monitor industry and competitive trends and provide relevant market intelligence to the General Manager and appropriate Sales and Operations leadership.
  • Maintain accurate and timely customer, prospect, activity, and opportunity information within the CRM system.
  • Participate in pricing, proposal, and commercial discussions in coordination with the General Manager and appropriate internal teams.
  • Monitor sales, bookings, quotation activity, conversion rates, customer spend, pipeline value, and new-business awards, and develop account growth plans for strategic and high-potential customers.
  • Conduct customer business reviews and account discussions to understand current requirements, future demand, upcoming programs, and sourcing priorities.
  • Serve as an escalation point for significant commercial or customer-satisfaction issues and coordinate internally to drive timely resolution.
  • Develop targeted visit plans based on growth potential, dormant business, competitive opportunities, manufacturing capabilities, and priorities established with the General Manager.
  • Represent the location and MW Fasteners at customer meetings, trade shows, supplier conferences, and industry events, and document visits, follow-up actions, and market intelligence in the CRM system.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, account management, technical sales, or commercial growth, preferably in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial, or engineered products.
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop relationships, uncover customer needs, and convert opportunities into profitable business.
  • Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and ability to understand pricing, lead times, customer requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to communicate effectively with purchasing, engineering, quality, operations, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office applications, and sales reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively across functions and MW Fasteners locations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time; a valid driver's license and the ability to travel by automobile and air as required.
