Internal Medicine Residency Program Director Mercy Medical Center | Aurora, Illinois

This position offers a balanced role with approximately 50% protected administrative time dedicated to program leadership and 50% clinical practice, allowing the Program Director to remain actively engaged in patient care while shaping the future of graduate medical education.This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced physician educator to influence resident training within a diverse, urban healthcare environment.

 

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Program Director is responsible for the general administration, curriculum planning, recruitment, and teaching and supervision of the IM Residency Program (“IM Program or Program”). The Program Director establishes the strategic direction of the Program and is responsible for the standards, quality and reputation of such. The Program Director is expected to support integration of the IM Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances value and quality, and that promotes an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education.

Qualifications

 

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine
• 3 to 5 years of post-residency Internal Medicine clinical experience
• Core Faculty experience in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
• Minimum 3 years of Program Director or Associate Program Director experience
• Demonstrated experience in resident and medical student education and mentorship
• Active record of scholarly activity, including research, publications, and presentations
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Inpatient clinical experience preferred
• Administrative and residency program leadership experience preferred
• Eligible for unrestricted Illinois medical licensure

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $300,000 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
