Position Overview
Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its Internal Medicine team serving the Central Maine region. The Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary and specialty medical care to adult patients. The NP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic medical conditions while emphasizing preventive care, patient education, and long-term health management.

Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in adult medicine.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
- Provide preventive healthcare, including health screenings, immunizations, and wellness counseling.
- Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, and cardiovascular conditions.
- Educate patients regarding medications, lifestyle modifications, disease management, and preventive health.
- Coordinate referrals and care with specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and follow applicable clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Qualifications
- Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current national NP certification, such asANCC or AANPcertification.
- Active RN and APRN/NP license in the applicable state.
- Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)orFamily Nurse Practitioner (FNP)certification, depending on the practice.
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required by the employer.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
- Experience in internal medicine, primary care, or adult healthcare preferred.
Pay Transparency
Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $131,000 to $146,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
