Full Job Description
Position Overview:
Onsite Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Intermediate to Senior Civil
Engineering Technologist to join our Courtenay office. Reporting to the Office Manager, the
successful candidate will support projects in the resource, municipal, energy, and mining sectors
as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role involves surveying, civil design, drafting, and
construction support. You will collaborate closely with engineers, field personnel, and clients to
help deliver high-quality design packages from conceptual stages through to record drawings.
Senior candidates will also have the opportunity to lead survey projects and teams, mentor junior
team members, and contribute to project planning and field engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Surveying & Field Engineering Support
o Perform Field Surveys as required
o Process survey data, including total station, GNSS, and LiDAR datasets.
o Prepare construction layout and staking files for field crews.
o Convert as-built survey information into updated record drawings.
o Collaborate with surveyors and field engineers to ensure data accuracy and project
alignment.
• Design & Drafting
o Prepare detailed engineering drawings for civil and infrastructure projects across
multiple sectors.
o Develop plans, profiles, cross-sections, grading designs, and construction details
using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
o Produce conceptual, preliminary, tender, issued - for - construction, and record
drawing packages.
• Project Coordination
o Support engineers and project managers in preparing design packages and
technical documentation.
o Assist with quantity calculations, design checks, and quality assurance practices.
o Communicate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve technical
issues.

Required Skills & Competencies:
• Physically capable of performing fieldwork, including lifting equipment, working in varied
terrain and weather, and traveling to remote locations for extended periods.
• Strong proficiency with topographic surveys using total station and GPS - RTK methods.
• Experience with drone-based survey and imagery is an asset.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D; and/or additional drafting/design software is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail, and a strong commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
• Self - motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, particularly at
senior levels.

Education & Experience:
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent combination of education and
experience).
• 4-7 years of related experience in consulting engineering or infrastructure design.
• Experience in surveying workflows, civil design, drafting production, and/or field
engineering support.
• Registered or eligible for registration with ASTTBC as an AScT or CTech
• Valid Drivers License

Salary:
$85,000-$110,000 annually, plus benefits. Actual compensation with the range will be determined
based on job-related factors such as engineering experience, certification level (AScT/CTech) and
scope of responsibilities.
