Your future role on our team

We're looking for a dynamic, innovative and creative estimatorwho's comfortable working in the consulting engineering industry. You'llactively participate in meeting the growing demands of our clients. As a teammember, you'll be responsible for tracking changes and estimating direct andindirect project costs.

  • Develop multidisciplinary estimates using engineering data, material quantity take-offs and/or scope of work documentation
  • Organize estimates based on the work breakdown structure and established cost coding
  • Calculate hourly labour rates, productivity factors and indirect costs
  • Develop pricing for local raw materials such as aggregates and concrete, and update pricing for key bulk materials in the estimating model to ensure alignment with the project location and currency
  • Supervise and review the work of junior estimators
  • Prepare assessments for allowances, markups and miscellaneous costs
  • Carry out material quantity take-offs
  • Participate in value-analysis exercises and trade-off studies
  • Work closely with cost controllers and project planners
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimation methods, tools and procedures
  • When assigned to a site, assess any changes made by the client and/or subcontractor to original contracts
  • Prepare estimation execution plans and basis of estimate documents
  • Propose or help develop pricing strategies (fixed-price pricing), including integrating work package lists, defining quantities and key dates, establishing installation labour methodologies and indirect costs methodologies and reviewing with the project team
  • Present and defend estimates to BBA management and lead estimate reviews and client presentations

Summary of certifications and jobrequirements

  • College diploma or university degree
  • From 4 to 12 years of relevant experience in the consulting engineering field or any other combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience in project estimation in the mining and/or heavy industry sectors
  • Solid experience with cost estimation practices for conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
  • Knowledge of cost estimation software
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients
  • Asset: French language (both spoken and written)
  • Asset: excellent knowledge of AACEI practices
  • Asset: experience with international project estimation
  • Asset: experience with construction and cost estimation methods across multiple disciplines
