Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a talented Senior Road Designer for our Toronto West office. Working within our Design & Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world's most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening public places that bring people together.

We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

As a civil designer, you will contribute to a range of infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on detailed design for municipal and linear infrastructure. Responsibilities include preparing preliminary and detailed designs covering all aspects of civil engineering, from grading and drainage to utility layouts and construction specifications. Your expertise ensures project requirements are translated into accurate and constructible solutions.

You will be expected to coordinate closely with the CAD standards group to maintain drafting and modeling standards across all project deliverables. Collaborating with other design disciplines is essential for effective integration of multidisciplinary inputs, resolving interface issues, and supporting seamless project delivery. This collaborative approach is key to upholding quality and consistency throughout the design process.

Additionally, you will assist junior designers with design concepts and software questions, providing guidance and mentorship to help develop their technical skills. By sharing your knowledge and experience, you help build a capable design team and reinforce high standards of performance across all phases of the project.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation or Municipal

  • Must possess a collaborative attitude in working with other members of a road and transportation team
  • Must be able to work independently with direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of the assignment(s)
  • Lead and contribute to the planning, preliminary, and detailed design of roadways and highways
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal design standards (e.g., TAC, OTM, MTO Design Supplements)
