JOB SUMMARY:The Insurance Specialist supports the administration of the company's insurance and risk-management programs, with a primary focus on subcontractor insurance compliance and construction-related coverages. This position reviews contracts and insurance documents, monitors compliance, administers certificates of insurance, and helps resolve coverage deficiencies.
The Insurance Specialist works closely with project teams, subcontractors, insurance brokers, program administrators, and company leadership to address insurance requirements and reduce project risk. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in commercial insurance. Experience with construction insurance programs, particularly Contractor-Controlled or Owner-Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs/OCIPs), Builder's Risk, or Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI), is preferred.
SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $100,000 annually

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Subcontractor Insurance Compliance
- Establish new projects in myCOI and maintain accurate project and subcontractor insurance information.
- Assign the appropriate insurance requirement sets to subcontracts in myCOI.
- Identify incomplete or noncompliant insurance documentation and coordinate corrections with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and insurance brokers.
- Monitor subcontractor start dates and proactively address deficiencies to help prevent subcontractors from beginning work without the required insurance.
- Monitor accounting hold reports and assist with resolving payment holds caused by insurance noncompliance.
- Review certificates of insurance, endorsements, and other coverage documentation for completeness and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Track project completion dates and close projects in myCOI as appropriate.
Contract and Insurance Requirements
- Review owner contracts, master agreements, subcontracts, and related documents to identify project-specific insurance requirements.
- Compare owner requirements with the company's standard subcontractor insurance requirements and recommend appropriate project-specific adjustments.
- Identify insurance-related risks, exceptions, exclusions, and obligations that may affect project execution.
- Determine whether subcontractor insurance deficiencies also create noncompliance with the applicable owner contract.
- Review contract documents for CCIP/OCIP enrollment requirements, insurance credits, coverage obligations, exclusions, and related program requirements.
Construction Insurance Programs
- Support the administration of construction insurance programs, including CCIPs, OCIPs, Builder's Risk, and SDI.
- Coordinate contractor and subcontractor enrollment in CCIP and OCIP programs.
- Monitor CCIP/OCIP compliance and work with project teams, subcontractors, brokers, and program administrators to resolve enrollment or documentation deficiencies.
- Assist with subcontractor closeout, final payroll reporting, and CCIP/OCIP program audits.
- Support SDI program administration, including documentation, subcontractor enrollment, and coordination with internal stakeholders and insurance partners, as applicable.
Company Insurance Certificates
- Request company certificates of insurance and endorsements from the company's insurance broker.
- Review company certificates and endorsements for accuracy and compliance before distribution.
- Coordinate the distribution of renewal certificates and updated insurance documents to project teams and other stakeholders.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of certificates, endorsements, correspondence, and other insurance documentation.
Qualifications:- Five or more years of relevant experience in commercial insurance, risk management, certificate-of-insurance compliance, insurance brokerage, contract administration, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of commercial insurance fundamentals, coverage forms, endorsements, exclusions, and industry terminology.
- Experience reviewing certificates of insurance, endorsements, and contractual insurance requirements.
- Construction insurance experience is preferred.
- Experience administering or supporting CCIP/OCIP, Builder's Risk, or SDI programs is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts and identify insurance-related requirements, risks, and inconsistencies.
- Understanding of construction trades, scopes of work, and related risk exposures is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain insurance and compliance issues clearly and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong internal client-service orientation and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with myCOI is strongly preferred.
- Experience with CMiC or a similar construction-management platform is a plus.
