Role description:Arcadis is seeking a
Senior Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) Quality Assurance Lead to establish and lead the independent I&M QA function supporting construction. The role is responsible for turning monitoring data, trigger notifications, field conditions and construction activity information into a controlled engineering response. The successful candidate will lead the review of data from the centralized monitoring system, coordinate the assessment of amber and red trigger events, maintain the Response Action Plan and defined notification/escalation protocols, and ensure that engineering decisions are supported by dependable data and traceable records. The role requires both strong geotechnical judgment and the ability to lead continuous coverage across active work fronts and two construction shifts.
Role accountabilities:As the I&M QA Lead, you will shape a high-performing quality assurance function and orchestrate day, night, weekend, and relief coverage so monitoring data and active construction fronts remain under continuous, expert review. At the heart of the role is ownership of the I&M QA procedures that govern system assurance, dashboard and trend reviews, trigger verification, investigations, escalations, reporting, and seamless shift handovers. You will also spearhead a comprehensive technical audit of existing data and instrumentation, examining database integrity, baseline information, calibration status, functionality, communications, data availability, and the performance of interim and manually read instruments.
Working at the intersection of technology, engineering, and construction, you will scrutinize proposed instrumentation packages against IFC requirements, approved monitoring plans, specifications, trigger levels, and project risks. You will champion the integrity of the centralized dashboard by confirming the accuracy of instrument names, locations, units, thresholds, notification logic, data continuity, and system management. When amber or red triggers emerge, you will lead a disciplined validation process-testing notifications against raw data, nearby instruments, recent construction activities, weather conditions, instrument status, and known system issues.
During trigger investigations, you will bring clarity to complex, fast-moving situations by directing the collection of factual, area-specific construction information, including work activities, locations, timing, equipment, sequencing, excavation or piling operations, and relevant site conditions. In partnership with the appropriate Professional of Record, Engineer of Record, and discipline specialists, you will coordinate engineering assessments while clearly separating verified facts from interpretation and recommendations. Guided by the approved Response Action Plan and delegated authority, you will activate or recommend enhanced monitoring, site verification, work restrictions, area isolation, mitigation assessments, and other appropriate response measures. You will also keep the Response Action Plan, decision tree, notification and distribution lists, escalation paths, response expectations, decision authorities, and close-out requirements current, practical, and ready for action.
At the center of a diverse project network, you will connect the monitoring subcontractor, Prime Contractor, TIC, Owner's Engineer, Province Representative, and relevant design disciplines while safeguarding Arcadis' independent I&M QA mandate. You will ensure every trigger event, notification, assessment, recommendation, approval, mitigation measure, and return-to-work decision is preserved in a clear, auditable event record. Through weekly and monthly I&M QA reporting, technical monitoring reviews, action tracking, and disciplined follow-through, you will set the standard for technical quality, coordinate workload effectively, support team performance, and create confident handovers across shifts.
