Full Job Description
As an Instrument and Electrical Engineer, you will LEAD by..........
  • Using your expertise in electrical and instrument design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting to contribute to life cycle strategy and planning efforts for our site E&I systems.
  • Design, specify, and review electrical and instrumentation systems for new and existing projects.
  • Develop wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and control logic schematics.
  • Perform equipment sizing and selection (e.g., control valves, transmitters, sensors, motors, VFDs).
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Support and coordinate site electrical distribution maintenance activities (cleaning, inspection, upgrades, etc.)
  • Conduct root cause analysis of system failures and develop corrective/preventive measures.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering disciplines to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, ISA, IEC, NFPA).
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
  • Manage contractors and vendors during project execution.
  • Contribute to HAZOPs, risk assessments, and safety reviews related to E&I systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Assisting with training efforts for the site.


Your elements for success......

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field and 5 years' work experience in an E&I role (will consider relevant Coop or Internship experience), or will consider High school/GED and 8 years' work experience in an E&I role, preferred.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments (e.g., oil & gas, chemical, power), required.
  • Electrical Distribution Equipment experience and knowledge (transformers, breakers, switchgear, etc required
  • Solid knowledge of process control, instrumentation, and electrical power systems.
  • Proficient in PLC systems, SCADA, and automation software.
  • Familiar with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe system design.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards (ISA, IEEE, IEC, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration abilities.
  • Experience with IT/OT networking and server management.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or other CAD software.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in control systems.
  • Experience with SIS systems and NFPA 86 burner systems.

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. . The competitive Pay Range for this role is $100,000k-$140,000k annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
