We are looking for an experienced Information Technology Administrator to join our IT team at the City of Kingman. In this role, you will maintain high availability and performance across our servers, networks, and data infrastructure by managing system backups, security policies, and technical support. Operating with a high degree of independence and discretion, you will handle critical system upgrades, coordinate diverse technical tasks, guide city-wide computing plans, and provide reliable, customer-focused support to staff across all departments.

You possess strong organizational and technical skills, allowing you to manage complex IT tasks, coordinate preventive maintenance, and ensure high availability across servers, networks, and data systems. You represent the City credibly, maintain absolute discretion with sensitive data, and provide excellent customer service to staff across all departments.
What You'll Need To Be Successful In This RoleEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field; and
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible information technology experience, including at least three (3) years of professional systems administration experience involving enterprise servers, networks, virtualization, cloud technologies, security, or related infrastructure.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- Valid CompTIA Server+ Certification
- Ability to possess and maintain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security clearance and requirements
What You'll Do For The City Of KingmanSystem Administration & Infrastructure Management (40%) :You will perform preventive maintenance actions, including system backups, establishing system recovery procedures, and maintaining offsite backup storage. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring system and network performance and equipment, verifying that systems are working properly, and performing upgrades as necessary. You will actively support, configure, and maintain servers, the network, data, and associated equipment to ensure high availability. Additionally, you will participate in an on-call rotation to provide critical support for network and system-related issues, adjusting your schedule to be present during early mornings, evenings, nights, holidays, or weekends as needed.
Technical Support & Customer Service (30%): You will coordinate and manage diverse technical support tasks while delivering excellent customer service to diverse audiences across all city departments. Your role requires you to provide direct support for technical issues, troubleshoot problems to final resolution, and conduct continual cross-training with other IT personnel to strengthen the overall infrastructure. While performing these duties, you will maintain absolute confidentiality and exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
IT Planning, Policy & Compliance (20%):You will assist and guide staff within both the IT department and city-wide in formulating short- and long-term plans regarding city computing needs. Your responsibilities include assisting in the recommendation and implementation of server policies and standards while ensuring strict adherence to security procedures. You will also perform all work duties and activities in accordance with city policies and procedures, ensuring that you follow safety policies and practices, work in a safe manner, and promptly report any unsafe activities or conditions.
General Administration & Special Assignments (10%): You will ensure operational continuity through regular attendance as an essential function of your role. Additionally, you will serve on various employee or other committees as assigned, perform related duties as required, and handle special assignments as requested by leadership to support the broader goals of the city.
Core Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesYou bring a thorough working understanding of general IT concepts and technologies, including cloud computing, virtualization, server platforms, and security, paired with knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Distributed File System (DFS), DFS Replication, and NTFS permissions. You possess comprehensive knowledge of enterprise software, such as SQL databases, web services, email systems, and associated security protocols, alongside working knowledge of modern authentication platforms like SAML, OIDC, and FIDO2/WebAuthn. Additionally, you are familiar with storage architecture, including SAN, NFS, NAS, deduplication, and data optimization technologies, and demonstrate proficiency in type 1 and 2 hypervisors for resource assignment and performance optimization.
Adept at managing tasks independently and collaborating effectively in group settings with both technical and non-technical staff, you apply a solid understanding of networking concepts-such as firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching-as well as application programming interfaces (APIs) for server and database communication. You excel at maintaining strong documentation with meticulous detail and accuracy, ensuring reliable system operations and seamless technical support.
