Job Description (General Summary)

Intralox, L.L.C. is seeking an Industrial Electrical Design Supervisor to lead the electrical design team within the Intralox Equipment Product Team.

This position is not eligible for work authorization or sponsorship.

The Industrial Electrical Design Supervisor will lead the electrical design team within the Intralox Equipment Product Team. This role has formal supervisory responsibility for a team of designers and is accountable for the quality, consistency, and execution of the team's electrical design deliverables. The role is responsible for setting team goals and KPIs, measuring progress against business initiatives, and developing team members, while also remaining closely engaged with the team's technical work.

This is a hands-on working supervisor role. In addition to supervising and developing team members, this person will stay actively involved in the technical work by reviewing deliverables, improving standard workflows, driving process and CAD tool improvements, and contributing directly to design work when needed to help the team meet business priorities and deadlines.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:
• Lead the electrical design team responsible for maintaining and improving electrical controls and automation designs for equipment products.
• Oversee the development of reusable design packages, including 3D control panel layouts, bills of materials, electrical schematics, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure standard electrical designs are documented clearly so project teams can understand, select, and apply them consistently on future equipment projects.
• Help team members succeed in their roles and support their professional development.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and reinforce the principles of the Laitram Business Philosophy.
• Promote high standards for engineering design quality, accuracy, and reliability.
• Participate in strategic and business planning activities; establish and execute the team's vision, mission, and goals.
• Facilitate and lead continuous improvement efforts that increase efficiency and quality throughout the project and product life cycle.
• Identify, evaluate, and help implement improved CAD tools, design methods, and processes that strengthen team capability and output.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Global Standards teams to improve products, increase internal productivity, and deliver greater value to customers.
• Work closely with Production Control, Materials Management, Assembly, Testing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to provide accurate, on-time, and complete deliverables.
• Guide and develop a team of designers focused on creating the industrial transportation systems of the future.
• Manage team capacity, commitments, and tasks while clearly communicating priorities to stakeholders.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to establish or adopt a vision and execute it with a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments, disciplines, skill levels, and time zones.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial electrical controls design.
• Knowledge of fabrication methods and design-for-manufacturing-and-assembly principles.
• Proficiency in designing industrial control systems, including BOM development, schematic generation, and control panel mechanical design.
• Experience creating or managing electrical design deliverables such as 3D control panel layouts, bills of materials, electrical schematics, and technical user guides.
• Demonstrated ability to create, improve, or standardize workflows, processes, or design methods.
• Proficiency with measuring devices and tools, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with software design and code development for PLC and PAC environments.
• Ability to meet the functional requirements of the role, including using a computer and visualizing models on a screen.
• Ability to travel 5-30% for equipment installation support and documentation audits.

Preferred Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of experience as an engineering team lead, supervisor, or manager, including experience interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing team members.
• Licensed PE (Professional Engineer) from any State.
• Familiarity with material handling electrical controls and automation systems.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor, especially for electrical control panel design.
• Familiarity with product data management and product lifecycle management tools such as PTC Windchill PLM.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Familiarity with nationally recognized specifications, standards, and regulatory bodies such as OSHA, NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and IEC standards.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and entry-level Studio 5000 programming experience.
• Familiarity with Siemens PLC hardware and entry-level TIA Portal programming experience.
• Experience with industrial network designs utilizing communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT and PROFINET.
