Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a growing team of engineers, you'll be engaged in programs shaping Blue Origin's future. You will lead the development, assembly, integration, and testing of a space vehicle program. In a fast-paced environment, you will develop and execute a test plan to assess all vehicle subsystems concurrently with assembly, culminating in final launch preparations. Your leadership will drive a major integration and test campaign's success, including creating work instructions, writing test plans and procedures, developing test equipment, and compiling reports. Lead a team across shift operations during vehicle I&T execution.

We seek someone with the technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to impact spaceflight's future positively. Passion for our mission and vision is essential!

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with design and system engineers to plan integration and subsystem tests, ensuring alignment with pertinent requirements.
  • Support design engineers with the integration of testing and operability features for new vehicle designs.
  • Partner with operations to provide requirements taking responsibility for people and hardware during execution.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of technical principles and concepts related to vehicle-level system integration and testing, including acceptance and qualification tests.
  • Develop or edit work instructions to support I&T
  • Partner with Mission SEIT to support payload I&T and launch site operations
  • Mentor and train other personnel and develop efficient test methods for integrated system testing.
  • Develop plans and procedures for launch operations.
  • Support on-site launch operations to prepare vehicles for flight.
  • Manage, and maintain Ground Support Equipment (GSE) required for program execution
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.

Qualifications:
  • Top Secret Clearance Required
  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience in the assembly and integration of spacecraft programs.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability
  • Ability to perform tactical and strategic planning to the production floor
  • Understanding of "test like you fly" assessment and exception processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering principles, including concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, and more.
  • Familiarity with vehicle-level acceptance and qualification tests and support equipment.
  • Proficient in designing, developing, and evaluating astronautical/mechanical/structural systems and hardware.
  • Capable of providing innovative technical solutions to complex problems during system-level testing of large vehicles.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% during planning and potentially 75% during integration and testing at multiple sites.
  • Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment, build trust, maintain professional relationships

Desired:
  • Experience in full life cycle test planning, from requirement definition to execution.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical ground support equipment.
  • Experience leading design reviews and anomaly investigations.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, etc.) and software tools like DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, Jira, Git, Creo, and Windchill.
