Location: St. John's, NL, Canada

We are seeking a Structural Engineer specializing in Hydropower Developments, Spillways, and Pumped Storage Facilities to join our team in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support on engineering mandates related to the hydropower sector.
  • Design hydraulic structures for hydroelectric and pumped storage facilities across all project phases, from conceptual studies through detailed engineering.
  • Support the rehabilitation of hydroelectric developments, concrete dams, and spillways by conducting studies and preparing detailed engineering designs for existing infrastructure upgrades.
  • Participate in project planning activities.
  • Contribute to project cost estimating.
  • Support tendering processes and bid evaluations.
  • Provide technical support to project and construction teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design and coordination activities.
  • Ensure the quality of structural engineering deliverables produced within the Hydropower and Dams team.
  • Identify client needs and develop innovative technical solutions to meet project objectives.Required Qualifications


Required Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
  • 5-10 years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on the design and rehabilitation of hydroelectric facilities.
  • Strong English communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Proficiency with numerical modelling and analysis tools used for hydraulic structures and hydroelectric generating facilities.
  • Willingness to travel on short-term assignments as required.
  • Experience working on major utility projects would be considered a strong asset.
  • Sound knowledge of concrete and steel design standards and codes (CSA, National Building Code of Canada, CSA S16, and related standards).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
