DescriptionSummary of Duties: Instill the RK safety culture into all employees. Develop and carry out a continuing safety program. Train, coach and mentor all employees of safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable of the Company Health, Safety, and Environment Program.
- Fosters positive long-term relationships with subcontractors and business partners.
- Supports effective application of risk management and loss prevention practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable State, Federal, Company, and Customer health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Implementation, Coordination and Administration of Company's Health & Safety Programs in accordance with local, state, Federal, Company and Customer rules and regulations.
- Advises HSE Director and Manager on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Conducts and/or coordinates training for employee in work site safety practices and evaluates employee training needs.
- Responds to and investigate post-incident investigations, and near misses and prepares report identifying possible root cause analysis to determine preventability or process improvement.
- Participate in OSHA inspections.
- Conducts safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Monitor and coach Field Team.
- Work with project teams to anticipate necessary safety supplies for employees.
- Promotes cross-group effectiveness with the ability to maintain a balance between Teamwork and Safety Compliance.
- Report on subcontractor safety performance to Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Prepares and coordinates safety meetings, including Safety Committee, focusing on safety topics, accident prevention, current processes and procedures, including new hire and refresher orientation.
- Support project management in the development of site-specific safety plans.
- Ensure that subcontractors have submitted project specific safety plans as required.
- Work with internal groups to update and maintain safety and health requirements in contract master agreements.
- Monitor and continuously evaluate effective strategies to reduce corporate EMR.
- Train and advise Health and Safety staff to guide construction, site, and program leadership with proper and legal abatement and environmental cleanup activities in the field.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from Project Management, Superintendents, Field Managers, Field Supervisors, Clients & subcontractors.
- Attend competent person courses, as available.
EDUCATION- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related field or related equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE- 5 years of Field Experience in the construction industry required. Specifically, construction and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of safety experience
- Electrical safety experience preferred
- Electrical Journeyman License preferred (or ability to obtain)
CREDENTIALS & CERTIFICATIONS- Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
- Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC)
- OSHA 510
Preferred:- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Safety Management Specialist (SMS)
SKILLS- Ability to travel to jobsites.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Experience in a supervisory level position directly managing subordinates and subcontractors.
