Role Purpose

The HR Director, Global Engineering and MT&E serves as the strategic talent integrating pivotal talent initiatives between the Chief Engineer, Engineering Council, Manufacturing Effectiveness Council, business leadership teams, division engineering organizations, Technology Community, and HR community to strengthen Corning's global engineering capabilities and talent pipelines.

This role provides leadership for engineering workforce strategy, capability planning, succession management, talent mobility, and workforce intelligence partnering with engineering leaders, capability leaders, MAP leaders, Division Engineering Managers, and HR leaders to assess critical capability needs, identify risks, develop talent strategies, and protect engineering capabilities essential to Corning's success. The position also provides leadership for the MT&E Human Resources function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in support of the Chief Engineer and Engineering Council on engineering talent, capability, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Lead global engineering capability assessments and facilitate development of talent capability gap closure plans.
  • Translate business growth plans, technology roadmaps, and manufacturing expansion needs into engineering workforce actions.
  • Develop workforce planning processes and workforce intelligence practices that enable data-driven decisions regarding engineering talent.
  • Partner with Division Engineering Managers, capability leaders, and HR leaders to anticipate talent needs and emerging capability risks.
  • Lead succession planning and talent pipeline discussions for critical engineering and technical leadership positions.
  • Promote enterprise talent mobility and facilitate movement of engineering talent across businesses, functions, and geographies.
  • Identify and address capability continuity and knowledge transfer risks within critical engineering disciplines.
  • Provide strategic direction regarding external talent sourcing, contingent workforce usage, engineering service providers, and workforce mix strategies.
  • Facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing across the global engineering community.
  • Assess the impact of changing workforce trends, technology, AI, and automation on engineering capability needs.
  • Support organizational effectiveness initiatives that improve engineering productivity, scalability, and business performance.
  • Serve as the HR representative to the Engineering Council and provide leadership for key talent, workforce, and diversity initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering Excellence and technical communities to strengthen engineering development programs and career pathways.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the MT&E HR organization.

  • Strong operational understanding of Corning's engineering, manufacturing, and technology organizations and both global and regional experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in workforce strategy, talent management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience leading large, complex, cross-functional initiatives with enterprise impact.
  • Knowledge of engineering capability planning, succession management, and talent pipeline development.

The range for this position is $172,964.00 - $237,826.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
