Full Job Description
What you'll do

At Scout Motors, you don't just design vehicles- you shape the future of the road. Our Engineering team is where bold ideas meet rigorous execution, building machines that are as durable and capable as the people who drive them. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with brilliant minds across disciplines, turning complex challenges into elegant, scalable solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and user experience. This is a place where your fingerprints are found on metal - where what you design gets built, driven, and remembered. If you're hungry to engineer something that matters, Scout Motors is where that ambition finds its highest gear.

As HiL and Requirements Coordinator - Drive Systems, you will combine two critical responsibilities in one role:
  1. Coordinating all Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) activities for BEV and REEV drive-system components
  1. Owning the requirements and test-case management processes for the drive system, ensuring quality, maturity, and transparency across development phases

This role is central to ensuring functional correctness, software quality, and release readiness for the Scout drive system. Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

HiL Coordination Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all HiL activities within the drive system for BEV and REEV components, acting as the central interface between software development, function owners, calibration, testing, and systems engineering teams
  • Plan, steer, and supervise HiL test execution, ensuring test environments, configurations, software builds, and test content are available and aligned with program priorities
  • Coordinate the HiL execution team responsible for test implementation and execution, providing clear scope, priorities, test objectives, and acceptance criteria
This role focuses on coordination and governance rather than hands-on test development or scripting.
  • Define and align HiL test strategies for drive-system functions, covering operating strategies, diagnostics, fault reactions, degraded modes, and system-level integration behavior
  • Track HiL execution progress, manage dependencies, identify risks or bottlenecks, and drive timely resolution in collaboration with function and validation stakeholders
  • Ensure HiL activities are aligned across prototype and serial development phases, supporting integration milestones, validation reviews, and software release readiness

Requirements & Test-Case Coordination Responsibilities
  • Own and oversee drive-system requirements management, including:
  • Reviewing completeness, clarity, and consistency of functional and system requirements
  • Ensuring requirements follow defined development processes and quality standards
  • Tracking requirement maturity, changes, and status throughout development
  • Coordinate and control drive-system test-case management, ensuring:
  • Test cases are correctly derived from requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Coverage, execution status, and results are monitored across HiL activities
  • Traceability is maintained between requirements, test cases, and validation outcomes
  • Assess and monitor the quality of the underlying processes for requirements and test-case management, identifying gaps, risks, or inconsistencies and driving corrective actions
  • Provide structured and transparent status reporting on HiL progress, requirements maturity, and test-case coverage to support technical and program decision making

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
  • Liaise closely with function development, calibration, systems architecture, and validation teams to align priorities, resolve issues, and support integration decisions
  • Support technical discussions by reviewing test results, contributing to root-cause analysis, and coordinating follow-up testing or fixes
  • Coordinate software and function readiness in support of prototype builds, validation phases, and release milestones
  • Support additional related tasks and activities required to ensure robust drive-system validation and timely delivery

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you'll bring

We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. You'll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You'll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Here's what else you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, IT Systems, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university; preferably Electrical, Controls, or Automotive Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive concept or serial development, with prior hands-on experience in HiL test development, scripting, or execution earlier in the career
  • Strong practical understanding of HiL architectures, test implementation, automation concepts, and execution workflows, enabling effective coordination and technical judgment
(Current role focus is on coordination, oversight, and process governance rather than hands-on development.)
  • Solid understanding of requirements engineering and test-case management, including traceability, maturity tracking, and process quality
  • Experience working within system engineering, integration, validation, and software release processes
  • Proven coordination and project-steering skills, with the ability to manage execution performed by other teams
  • Structured, quality-focused mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
