Summary:
Position: Hematologist/Oncologist at Altru Cancer Center

Team at Altru Health System includes:
-350+ Altru physicians and advanced practice providers, and our Oncology team includes:
-Comprehensive team of Hematology/Oncology, Radiation Oncologist, Palliative care physician and advanced practice providers
-Procedures optional: Bone Marrow Biopsies
-Call: Rotating with APP support during the week
-Average patients/day: 12-14
-Equipment available: 4D CT Scanner
-Voice dictation available: Yes, DAX

The Hematology and Oncology Physicians role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients at Altru, providing comprehensive care for injuries and illnesses. The Hematology and Oncology Physicians responsibilities include counseling patients on preventive healthcare measures and exercising professional judgment in alignment with Altru's policies and standards. The position requires achieving annual Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals, supporting department objectives, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation to ensure quality patient care and appropriate reimbursement.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Evaluates, provides diagnosis and treatment of patients of Altru who present with injuries or illnesses. Counsels patients and advises on preventative healthcare measures.
  • Exercises Doctor's own judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of patients consistent with Altru's policies and standards.
  • Achieves the Altru Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals established on an annual basis. Participates in activities and support department goals as defined by department on an annual basis.
Qualifications:

  • Doctorate within specified field of medical practice from respective accredited school.
  • Must be admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board or be certified by the Canadian Board and are members of either the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons, American board certification or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certification. Board certification in area of specialty must be obtained within six years of employment.
  • Must be granted medical staff appointments at Altru and associated facilities as are necessary to the commission of duties prior to commencement of employment.
  • Must be insurable under the Health System's professional liability carrier prior to commencement of employment.
  • Be legally licensed to practice medicine by the North Dakota Board of Medicine and/or Minnesota Board of Medicine, depending on the location of the practice to which they are assigned.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation ensuring quality patient care and assurance of appropriate reimbursements to Altru.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
