Full Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL DOThe Heavy Rents Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the Heavy Rents business across the Western States territory. This role is accountable for revenue growth, profitability, fleet utilization, fleet return on investment, customer satisfaction, operational excellence, safety performance, and employee development. Working closely with Regional Managers, Sales Managers, Fleet Management, and branch leadership teams, the Heavy Rents Manager develops and executes strategies that drive sustainable growth, maximize fleet performance, and deliver consistent customer experience. The position serves as the primary leader of the Heavy Rents business by driving accountability, developing talent, promoting a strong safety culture, and positioning the organization to achieve short-term objectives and long-term growth goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead overall performance and daily operations of the Heavy Rents business.
  • Develop and execute business plans that drive revenue growth, profitability, utilization, and market share.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement action plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Partner with Fleet Management on acquisition, allocation, and disposition strategies.
  • Ensuring equipment availability aligns with customer demand and market opportunities.
  • Optimize fleet utilization and return on rental assets.
  • Support pricing and resale strategies for used rental fleet equipment.
  • Partner with sales leadership to support customer acquisition, retention, and market penetration.
  • Promote consistent, high-quality customer experience across all locations.
  • Develop and maintain operational standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion Western States' safety culture and promote a safe work environment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, productivity, and service quality.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and employees supporting the Heavy Rents business.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold teams accountable for performance, safety, and customer results.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and employee development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Build strong partnerships with Regional Managers, Sales Managers, Fleet Management, Product Support, Finance, HR, Safety, and branch leadership.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong understanding of equipment rental operations, fleet management, and construction equipment markets.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting and profitability management.
  • Ability to analyze business performance and develop effective action plans.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and business management systems.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Western States territory as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading operations, managing financial performance, and developing teams.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and perform routine physical activities.
  • Ability to visit active construction, industrial, and customer job sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with company safe work practices.
  • Must meet all applicable safety requirements.
